⚽GOOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLL!

In honor of the World Cup's memorable run this summer, GSPP's Penn Medicine Rehabilitation recreation therapy held a Rehab Soccer Tournament at Rittenhouse for patients and staff.

Participants tested their soccer skills by taking shots at all eight goals, which were "guarded" by professional soccer players.

The competition heated up when participants requested a speed round. With just one minute on the clock, staff raced to retrieve deflected balls and line up their next shots, making for an exciting finish.

Congratulations to all participants and a huge round of applause to the team for putting together this memorable event! 👏

Inpatient occupational therapy, physical therapy and recreational therapy teams are making the most of the beautiful weather by taking patients outdoors to enjoy nature and engage with the community.

Penn Medicine Rehabilitation patients practiced walking and navigation skills through Rittenhouse Park, played card games and spent time planting flowers, herbs and seeds in the Patient Garden at 1800 Lombard Street.

"I love rehab," one patient said after the outdoor group therapy session.

These outdoor activities support rehabilitation goals while providing opportunities for recreation and connection with nature. It's always a great day when our patients can get out and enjoy the community! ☀️

Inpatient Visitor Restrictions in Place
Patients at Good Shepherd Penn Partners Specialty Hospital (LTACH) and the Penn Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine, a unit of the Hospital of the University of Penn (HUP) located at Rittenhouse, can have two healthy (i.e. no fever or other signs of illness) visitors (aged 12 or over) at a time. Approved visitors will receive information about risk of infection and will be asked to put on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (gown, gloves, medical mask, and eye protection/face shield).
