During Mental Health Awareness Month, Kim Malayter, LCSW, Director of Clinical Services, shares an important reminder: stigma remains one of the biggest barriers to people seeking the care they deserve.

Her message encourages us to look honestly at the assumptions we carry, the language we use, and the ways stigma can make it harder for individuals and families to reach out for support.

At Friends Hospital, we’re committed to creating a community where treatment is understood, recovery is supported, and every person feels seen without judgment.

Reducing stigma starts with honest conversations.

Friends kicked off Hospital Week yesterday with a Waffle Bar where our leaders served up handmade to order waffles for our staff.

We continued the food fun with our CEO Grilled Cheese Bar where our CEO, Angie Cantwell, cooked and served grilled cheese for everyone. There was an outstanding Taco Bar selection served up by our leaders as well. We are so excited for the rest of the week’s festivities!

Today for Nurses Week, we’re proud to highlight one of the extraordinary nurses who embodies the heart of Friends Hospital: DAISY Award honoree Loretta Pacitti.

In our interview, Loretta shared what keeps her grounded in this work: the privilege of supporting patients through some of their most vulnerable moments and the teamwork that makes compassionate care possible.

Her dedication, empathy, and steady presence inspire all of us.
Thank you, Loretta, and thank you to every nurse who brings skill and humanity to our mission each day.

Our Greystone Program — a long‑term, supportive residential community on the Friends Hospital campus — recently found a tiny litter of kittens. 🐾

Caring for them has become a meaningful daily activity for our residents, bringing purpose, connection, and calm into the home. It’s a small moment that reflects what Greystone is all about: nurturing routines, shared responsibility, and healing through community.
