When people come onto the grounds of Friends Hospital, we want them to feel that they have left the city and entered a quiet refuge where the process of healing the mind has taken place for centuries. On Friday, the Friends Hospital team came together to honor and celebrate the life and memory of Robertha Alston-Diakhate, a beloved member of our Friends family.

Robertha was deeply rooted in family and will be remembered for her loving heart, wonderful sense of humor, sharp wit, many talents, confidence, and the warmth she extended to everyone around her. She had a way of making others feel welcome, offering reassurance when it was needed most, and sharing her gentle spirit with those fortunate enough to know her.

Her loss leaves a deep sadness in our hearts, but we are grateful for the time we shared with her and for the lasting legacy she leaves behind at Friends. Robertha touched so many lives, and her presence will continue to be felt in the memories we cherish and the lives she helped shape.

Today's Mental Health First Aid training at Friends Hospital brought together community partners and staff to strengthen awareness, understanding, and support for those experiencing mental health challenges.

In partnership with Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, we were proud to host this important training led by volunteer instructors B. Preston and Paula Howard. Thank you to B. and Paula for sharing their time, expertise, and passion for mental health education, and to everyone who participated in making the day a success.

Today, Kimberly Malayter, LCSW, Director of Clinical Services at Friends Hospital, brought staff together for Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) training. The session focused on understanding how trauma affects the people we serve and how we can respond with compassion, empathy, and respect.

💚 Friends Hospital was proud to sponsor the AFSP Berks County Out of the Darkness Walk on Saturday. While the forecast threatened rain, the weather cooperated for a meaningful morning of remembrance, awareness, and support.

We are proud of the commitment our CNO and CEO continue to make to creating meaningful opportunities for our staff to learn, grow, and strengthen the way we care for those we serve.

Recently, our CNO hosted a Scenario-Based Skills Day, giving staff the opportunity to practice critical skills, work through real-world situations, and build confidence in a hands-on environment.

Our CEO also hosted a Multidisciplinary Treatment Team Summit, bringing colleagues from across disciplines together to strengthen communication, share perspectives, and create greater alignment around the needs of our patients.
