Meet Dr. Jerry Cohen, DO, Medical Director at Independence Rehab & Nursing.

For more than five decades, Dr. Cohen has dedicated his career to caring for patients across the Philadelphia area. For more than 30 of those years, he has been a trusted presence at Independence.

With a background in family medicine and geriatrics, Dr. Cohen brings decades of experience, clinical expertise, and a commitment to helping patients live healthier, better lives.

Two weeks in a wheelchair. Two weeks with a walker. Then, she walked out. 💙

After being struck by a truck and sustaining multiple fractures and significant injuries, Ashlie had a long road ahead of her.

Recovery wasn’t easy. But she kept showing up, putting in the work, and taking it one step at a time.

And those steps added up to something incredible. Ashlie walked out of our doors.

Now, she’s sharing her story in her own words, along with a message for anyone facing a difficult road of their own.

Her journey is proof that even when progress feels slow, every step counts. 💙

Sometimes, it’s the little things that make a big difference. Having your favorite shows to enjoy, staying connected with family and friends, or simply being able to browse the internet from the comfort of your room can help make each day feel a little more like home.

104 Years Young and Stronger Every Day! 🎉💙

A HUGE congratulations to Ms. Donna! 🎉

At 104 years young, Ms. Donna came to us with significant weakness and poor intake. She arrived with the expectation that she would remain with us for long-term care.

But Ms. Donna had other plans. 💪

With the dedication and encouragement of our Physical and Occupational Therapy team, she worked hard to rebuild her strength and endurance, regain her confidence, and become more independent.

And the progress she made was incredible.

Her family was so impressed with how far she came that they made the wonderful decision to bring Ms. Donna home! 🏡💙

104 years young, stronger every day, and heading home. We couldn’t be happier for you, Ms. Donna! 🎉👏💙
