Your story has the power to shape the future of cancer care.

Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation is proud to share this research opportunity from our partner, ECANA (Endometrial Cancer Action Network for African Americans).

Researchers are seeking Black women and LGBTQIA+ individuals living with endometrial cancer or early stage breast cancer to participate in a confidential online survey about their experiences. The survey explores important topics such as financial challenges, transportation, caregiving, and access to care. These are real life barriers that deserve to be heard and included in future research.

If you are eligible, or know someone who is, we encourage you to participate or share this opportunity.

Survey takes approximately 30 minutes

Help Shape Future Breast Cancer Research

Have you undergone ni**le ar**la complex (NAC) tattooing after breast cancer surgery?

Researchers at the University of Central Florida are seeking breast cancer survivors to help improve a research survey before it is shared more broadly with the breast cancer community. Your feedback will help ensure the survey is clear, respectful, and accurately reflects the experiences of breast cancer survivors.

You may be eligible if you:
• Are 18 to 70 years old
• Are a breast cancer survivor who underwent a unilateral or bilateral mastectomy
• Had NAC tattooing completed at least 8 weeks ago, but no more than 5 years ago

Participation begins with an online survey that takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete. The survey reviews draft questions and asks about your experience and how you interpret the survey items. At the end, participants have the option to volunteer for a follow up cognitive interview, but it is not required to complete the survey.

Your voice can help improve future research and ensure survivor perspectives are represented.

Yesterday, we pressed pause.

In the work of serving others, it's easy to forget that caregivers, advocates, nonprofit leaders, and healthcare professionals also need spaces to rest, reflect, and reconnect.

That was the intention behind The Reset.

What began as an idea became a beautiful afternoon of grounding, meaningful conversation, guided wellness practices, reflection, and genuine connection. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who chose to spend part of their Saturday with us and embraced the experience with open hearts.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sharon Washington of Guided Grounding for creating such a peaceful and restorative experience through guided grounding, breathwork, and sound healing. Your leadership set the tone for an afternoon that many of us won't soon forget.

Thank you to One Art Community Center for opening your space and helping create such a warm, welcoming environment for our guests.

We're also grateful to The Gathering Table for the thoughtfully curated charcuterie spread that complemented the experience perfectly. Your delicious refreshments added another layer of care and hospitality to the afternoon.

To everyone who attended, thank you for trusting us with your time, your presence, and your willingness to simply be.

This was more than an event. It was a reminder that those who spend their lives caring for others deserve spaces where they, too, can be cared for.

Cancer doesn't only affect the body. It can also affect your emotional, mental, and psychological well being.

A cancer diagnosis can bring anxiety, depression, fear, uncertainty, and emotional exhaustion for patients, caregivers, and loved ones. Yet mental health is often one of the least discussed parts of the cancer journey.

As we recognize National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, we're also acknowledging the mental health disparities that continue to affect many underserved communities. Everyone deserves access to compassionate, quality care that supports both their physical and emotional health.

At Byrd Cancer Foundation, we believe caring for the whole person is an important part of cancer care. No one should have to face cancer alone.

Every advancement in cancer care begins with research. Could this clinical trial be right for you or someone you know?

A new clinical trial opportunity is available for people with early stage HR+/HER2 negative breast cancer.

The Adjuvant WIDER trial is a clinical trial evaluating the use of ribociclib (Kisqali®) combined with standard endocrine therapy for a wider range of patients with early stage HR+/HER2 negative breast cancer.

In collaboration with patient advocacy organizations, including our partners at TOUCH: The Black Breast Cancer Alliance and TCI, the study aims to support patients throughout their clinical trial journey while expanding knowledge about breast cancer treatment outcomes.

Eligible participants may include adults with early stage HR+/HER2 negative breast cancer who have completed surgery and meet specific study criteria.
