Don’t let anyone else’s limited thinking keep you from what is FOR YOU. We all have a dharma — a specific function and series of purposes in this life that are tailor made for us, within this larger collective work that we are doing.

This is yours to cultivate and carry out. And just because it didn’t work for someone else does not mean it won’t work for you. Perhaps they were out of alignment, moving toward some goal they THOUGHT was for them, but ultimately wasn’t their dharma. It doesn’t mean it’s not yours.

Protect your dreams. Don’t absorb everyone’s ideologies. And keep doing you! 💗

Love that yoga teachers in the West are starting to talk about the eight limb path (Ashtanga) yoga more, trying to tie asana to its broader context. Asana IS just one part of the path of Raja yoga and not a very big part of it, either. There are only 3 sutras dedicated to the practice of Asana in the yoga sutras and they are about how we come into a comfortable seat to prepare for meditation.

But even beyond the scope of Raja Yoga there exists Bhakti - the path of devotion. Jñāna - the path of knowledge, and Karma yoga - the path of action.

If you’ve been practicing for any length of time, I’m sure thee are ways you’ve incorporated these paths without even knowing it, or been initiated into one or the other without the awareness of what was happening. So, let’s talk about the other paths of yoga and how they can aid us in finding greater liberation!

Yoga Sutra 1.2 says "Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodha", defining yoga as the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.

These days, most of society lives in a constant state of overstimulation or anxiety. Our minds are full, often debilitatingly so.

Through discussion, meditation, and self-inquiry, we'll deepen our relationship to our minds and learn how to find greater mental clarity and peace. 🙏🏾✨

We’re in a time of great transition! It can be easy to feel a bit scattered or untethered as the shifts occur. That means it’s the perfect time to ground and center.

Join me and Offline Living Philadelphia for an evening of grounding on September 19th! Unplug and log off with us — reconnect to YOU.

We’ll settle in with our feet in the grass and then move through a gentle yoga practice to connect us further to our foundation. We’ll end with a meditation to get you fully present, centered and ready to face whatever comes your way!

Bring your mat, water, and perhaps a blanket or any props you might like to support you. If you don’t have props, that’s perfectly fine. They’re not needed, just welcome.
