Strong, Not Skinny: Lose Fat. Build Muscle.

Most patients come to me with too little lean muscle and too much body fat, an imbalance that drives metabolic dysfunction.

That’s why our “Strong, Not Skinny” philosophy isn’t about getting smaller.

It’s about losing fat, building muscle and creating a stronger, healthier body that lasts.

The first question most people ask about weight loss treatment is "how much weight will I lose?" And I get it. But that is not the question that protects you.

Before you start any program, you need to know who is actually evaluating you and whether they are licensed to manage your care. You need to know the benefits and the risks of any treatment being recommended, and how to take it correctly. And if something goes wrong or you have a question at 10pm on a Thursday, you need to know exactly who to call.

A good provider should never make you feel bad for asking any of this. An informed patient is an empowered patient. Your health deserves more than a quick transaction.

Morning light matters more than most people realize.

I’m a big believer in getting outside early, letting your eyes take in natural daylight, and gradually building more time outdoors into your routine. Your environment influences your sleep, energy, circadian rhythm, and overall health more than you may think.

That doesn’t mean ignoring sun safety. It means recognizing that sunlight isn’t something we need to completely fear or avoid.

Something has changed, and we need to talk about it.

Look at photos from generations ago and compare them to what we see today. Our food, environment, activity levels, sleep, stress, and daily habits have changed dramatically, and our metabolic health has changed with them.

I don’t believe we can reduce the obesity epidemic to simply telling people to “eat less.” We need to understand what changed around us if we want to change what’s happening inside us.

The number on the scale is not the whole picture.

I have worked with patients who were doing everything right and still felt stuck because the stress, the grief, the burnout were all working against them in ways that no diet can fix on its own.

Sustainable progress tends to involve more than what you eat. It involves sleep, movement, support, and building routines that can hold up when life gets hard. Health is not measured by one number. It is built one decision at a time.

Your environment is sabotaging your weight loss. Not your genetics. Not your willpower. Your environment.

The cheat days you think you are earning. The habits you keep telling yourself are fine. I have seen this with patient after patient.

They are doing everything right on paper and still not getting results, and when we dig in, there is always something in their environment or their routine that is quietly working against them.

And here is the part nobody talks about: those toxic habits are not just stopping the weight loss. They are feeding the depression.

You cannot think your way out of a bad environment. You have to change it.

What is one habit you know is holding you back right now?

Weight loss is often the end result of how you rebuild your life.

Your environment, stress, routines, sleep, food, movement, and the way you take care of yourself all matter. That’s why I want people to think beyond the scale. Get outside in the morning. Get some natural light. Move your body. Slow down. Start creating routines that make you feel like yourself again.

The goal isn’t just to lose weight. It’s to build a life that makes taking care of yourself easier.

“The best in the tri-state area” is the kind of feedback I never take lightly.

I’ve always believed good care should feel personal. You should feel heard, understood, and confident that the person helping you actually cares about your outcome.

That’s the standard I try to bring to every patient, every visit, every time.
