Ask the person lying next to someone with sleep apnea and they will tell you it is not the snoring that keeps them up. It is the pause. The silence, and then the gasp.

Untreated sleep apnea quietly takes a lot: steady energy, focus, patience, the version of you that does not hit a wall at 3pm. For a lot of people, CPAP was supposed to fix it and never quite did.

Inspire is an FDA-approved implant that works while you sleep, keeping the airway open without a mask or a hose on your face. Not everyone qualifies, which is why it starts with a conversation. For those who do, that first stretch of real sleep tends to change things.

You blow your nose and there it is again. A little blood, seemingly out of nowhere.

August in Phoenix is rough on the inside of your nose. The air outside is bone dry, the AC runs all day pulling out whatever moisture is left, and your nasal lining cracks and bleeds. It is one of the most common things we see this time of year.

A few things that help:
• Run a humidifier at night
• Use a saline spray to keep the lining moist
• Dab a little ointment just inside the nostrils
• Go easy when you blow your nose

If the nosebleeds are frequent, hard to stop, or keep coming from the same side, an evaluation can help identify what is going on.

A full July in Phoenix means dust storms, monsoon pressure swings, pool days, and air conditioning cycling on and off all day. For people with chronic sinus issues, that's a lot of compounding triggers.

If you've spent the month congested, pressure-heavy, or breathing through your mouth more than your nose, that's not just summer. That might be worth addressing before it becomes a fall pattern.

Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally invasive in-office procedure that opens blocked sinus passages without cutting or general anesthesia. Most patients are back to normal activity within 24 to 48 hours.

If chronic congestion is your baseline, Biltmore ENT can help you figure out if there's a better option.

Phoenix to Flagstaff, the altitude climbs fast and your ears usually know it. For most people, swallowing or yawning resets things. For others, that plugged, muffled feeling sticks around for hours or days.

That's Eustachian tube dysfunction, and July gives it plenty of triggers: altitude changes from Sedona or Flagstaff trips, monsoon-related pressure swings, congestion from dust and seasonal allergies, flying out of Sky Harbor while inflamed.

It's often written off as "my ears just do that." But when it's recurring, it's worth an evaluation. ETD is very treatable once it's properly identified.

Kids adapt quietly. They turn their head, watch faces more closely, laugh when everyone else laughs. They don't always know something is off.

Hearing changes in children are often gradual. Parents usually catch the signs first: the TV gets louder, things need to be repeated, attention drifts in groups.

A hearing check before school starts gives you a clear picture before your child is sitting in a classroom trying to follow a teacher from across the room.

Pediatric hearing evaluations at Biltmore ENT are straightforward and comfortable for kids.

A show at Talking Stick Amphitheatre, a stadium concert, a few nights of fireworks. July is loud in Phoenix.

Most post-event ringing fades by morning. But for a lot of people, it stops fading as completely as it used to. That's tinnitus, and noise exposure is one of the most common causes.

The damage is cumulative. The ringing you're writing off today may be louder in a year.

If you've noticed it sticking around longer, or if it's become a constant background presence, Biltmore ENT's audiology team can evaluate what's happening and walk you through your options.

Most ENT visits treat one thing at a time. Dr. David Bowne is set up differently.

He's a Board Certified Otolaryngologist who is also fellowship trained and board certified in ENT allergy, meaning he can evaluate your sinuses and your allergies together and actually connect the dots between them.

He also speaks medical Spanish, which matters in a Valley as diverse as ours.

Practicing since 2002, with privileges at Phoenix Children's Hospital and Banner and Dignity hospitals across the Valley.

If you've been told it's allergies, then told it's your sinuses, and you're still not better, Dr. Bowne is worth a visit.

People who've lived with sleep apnea for years describe the same moment after starting Inspire therapy: they wake up and realize they actually slept.

Not three interruptions. Not a foggy 6am. Slept.

No mask. No hose. Inspire is an FDA-approved implant that works while you sleep, keeping the airway open without anything on your face.

Not everyone qualifies, which is why it starts with a conversation. But for those who do, that first full night tends to change things.

One afternoon in the pool? No problem. Every day in July? That's when swimmer's ear starts showing up.

Water that sits in the ear canal softens the skin and creates conditions where bacteria thrive. It starts as itching or fullness. Left alone, it gets worse quickly.

Kids are especially prone because their ear canals are narrower and harder to dry thoroughly. If the ear isn't back to normal within a day or two, it's worth a call.

Biltmore ENT has locations across the Valley so care is close no matter where you are.
