Some places never go out of style! 🍨

La Siena's residents recently made their annual visit MacAlpine's Diner & Soda Fountain a Phoenix landmark that first opened in 1929. From the vintage atmosphere to the old-fashioned soda fountain, this outing felt like a step back in time.

One resident even asked, “Do they have phosphorus drinks?” The answer was yes! With 99 different ice cream soda flavors on the menu and unique creations like the famous "Pregnant Moment," there was so much fun to be had while reminiscing about days gone by. Thanks, MacAlpine's!

Creativity was on full display at La Siena's annual Art Walk! 🎨

Our residents shared a beautiful mix of personally created pieces and collected works, including oil paintings, ink drawings, photography, crafts, and a unique teapot collection. One featured resident spent 35 years as an AP photographer traveling the world, bringing an incredible depth of story and perspective to the showcase.

What made the event even more special was seeing how many creative journeys began later in life, with some residents discovering new passions well into their 70s!

Leaving a longtime home is not easy. It is filled with memories, routines, and big decisions. But many residents say the hardest part was not moving, it was waiting.

By making the move before a crisis or emergency forces the decision, residents have more opportunity to build friendships, enjoy new experiences, focus on their health, and settle into a lifestyle that supports their independence. As one resident shared, she believes the move improved her health and added years to her life.

Our residents enjoyed coffee and conversation on the terrace between exercise classes before gathering for a special presentation by historian Jim Turner in honor of D-Day. 🇺🇸

The discussion reflected on June 6, 1944, when more than 150,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy in one of the largest military operations in history. Their courage and sacrifice helped turn the course of World War II and changed the future of the world.

More than 80 years later, it remains a day worth remembering, honoring those who served and those who gave their lives in the fight for freedom.

Every seat was filled, and for good reason!

La Siena residents packed the room for the launch of the Longevity Club, a new program powered by Growing Bolder and centered on one simple but powerful invitation: say YES. 🌟

The Longevity Club encourages residents to keep exploring what it means to live longer with purpose, curiosity, and possibility. Through inspiring stories, meaningful conversations, and resident-led ideas, the club is about challenging outdated ideas of aging and making room for new experiences, new friendships, new challenges, and new joy.

Our residents got up close with a few wild visitors during a special Wildlife World Zoo visit! 🐍🦜

Saying "YES" is not always easy. 🌟

For Mary Anne, it meant coming face-to-face with something she had feared for years. As part of her "Longevity List," she decided to say yes during our Wildlife World Zoo visit and gently pet a baby boa for the very first time!

It may not seem like a big moment to everyone else, but that is the beauty of the Longevity Club and Growing Bolder. The goal is not to do what everyone else is doing. The goal is to keep growing, stay curious, and say YES to the things that challenge us.
