See, there she goes, making sense using words I didn’t even know she had available for grabs from her new vernacular. I try not to laugh as I ask, “Wow, Mom, what happened?” She replies without missing a beat, “Well, when the big black desert came crashing through the roof, I wasn’t sure if I could jump over the paper or just bust through the center with my cart.” Obviously, that clears things up for me, so I just nod and say, “I see.” Clearly, I don’t see. Every time I’m with my mom, I am in the process of figuring “it” out. The “it” is Alzheimer’s.

When a loved one enters hospice, families should not have to manage communication between doctors, specialists, nurses, and care providers on their own.

At Wings of Hope Hospice, coordinated care is a key part of how we support patients and families. Our team works closely with physicians, specialists, nurses, and support staff to create one clear care plan focused on comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

This helps reduce confusion, prevent gaps in care, simplify medication management, and give families greater peace of mind during an emotional time.

Grief changes the way we feel connected, but it does not erase the bond.

The people we love stay with us in familiar routines, quiet memories, favorite sayings, and the way they shaped who we are. Their presence may feel different, but their impact remains.

You are not alone in carrying that love forward.

Families often have questions about medications when a loved one begins hospice care.

What is covered?
What changes?
Who helps manage refills, adjustments, and communication?

Wings of Hope created a clear guide to help families understand how hospice medication coverage works, including comfort-focused medications, symptom relief, pharmacy coordination, and how care teams together with the patient and family make decisions with compassion and clarity.

Compassion isn’t a talking point. It’s how we show up every day.

From the families we support to the team members who stand beside them, every moment is handled with care, respect, and presence. This is what hospice should feel like.
