Perimenopause may be a new chapter, but you don’t have to figure it out alone.

If you’ve been feeling unlike yourself lately, experiencing brain fog, struggling with sleep, noticing mood changes, or dealing with hot flashes and night sweats, hormonal changes during perimenopause may be contributing to how you feel. These changes can be frustrating, especially when they begin to affect your everyday life.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), also called menopausal hormone therapy, may help relieve bothersome symptoms for many women. Estrogen therapy can also help prevent bone loss and reduce the risk of osteoporosis in appropriate candidates. While hormone therapy is not recommended solely to prevent cardiovascular disease, understanding your individual heart health risks is an important part of your care during this stage of life.

You deserve to feel heard when you talk about changes in your body. Your New Horizons Women’s Care provider can help you understand your symptoms, discuss the potential benefits and risks of hormone therapy, and determine whether treatment may be appropriate for you based on your health history and individual needs.

What is gestational diabetes, and how can it affect pregnancy?

Gestational diabetes occurs when the body cannot produce enough insulin to meet the increased needs of pregnancy, causing blood sugar levels to rise. If left unmanaged, it can increase the risk of complications, including excessive fetal growth.

With appropriate care, gestational diabetes can often be managed through nutrition, physical activity, blood sugar monitoring, and medication when needed. Your OBGYN will work with you to monitor your health and your baby’s growth throughout pregnancy.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we’re here to support you with personalized prenatal care and guidance throughout your pregnancy.

Your comfort matters at New Horizons Women’s Care. 🩷

We understand that certain in-office gynecologic procedures can feel intimidating. That’s why we offer nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, as a comfort option for eligible patients.

What is Pro-Nox?

Pro-Nox is a self-administered system that delivers a 50/50 blend of nitrous oxide and oxygen to help ease anxiety and discomfort during procedures. It works quickly, wears off relatively quickly after use, and allows patients to remain awake and communicate with their provider.

When might it be an option?

Nitrous oxide may be offered for certain procedures, including IUD insertions and removals, endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, and select cervical procedures.

Nitrous oxide is not right for everyone. Your provider will review your medical history, discuss potential risks, and help determine whether it’s an appropriate option for you.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we want you to feel informed, comfortable, and supported throughout your care. Call or text 480-895-9555 to learn more or schedule an appointment.

Let’s talk about heavy menstrual bleeding. 🩷

Heavy periods can affect daily comfort and quality of life, but there are treatment options available. One option is the Mirena IUD, a hormonal intrauterine device that provides long-acting contraception and is also approved to treat heavy menstrual bleeding for up to 5 years in women who choose it for contraception.

Mirena releases a hormone called levonorgestrel, which helps thin the uterine lining and can significantly reduce menstrual bleeding over time. Some patients may also experience less period-related discomfort, although results and side effects vary.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, our providers can help evaluate heavy menstrual bleeding, discuss possible causes, and recommend treatment options based on your symptoms, health history, and individual needs.

You have options, and we’re here to help you understand them.

Understanding your options for intimate wellness starts with understanding your care. 🤍

Vaginal dryness and discomfort during intimacy can have a variety of causes, including hormonal changes, menopause, and certain gynecologic conditions such as endometriosis. Because every person’s experience is different, finding the right approach starts with understanding the underlying cause.

MonaLisa Touch is a non-surgical laser treatment designed to support vaginal tissue health by stimulating collagen-related tissue changes. It may be considered for certain menopause-related vaginal symptoms, depending on individual circumstances. It is not the right option for everyone, and evidence regarding its benefits and long-term safety is still evolving.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, our providers can help you understand potential causes, discuss available treatment options, and determine what may be appropriate for your individual needs.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. đź©·

About 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, making breast health and recommended screening an important part of preventive care.

Mammograms use low-dose X-rays to look for changes in breast tissue that may be too small to feel. Finding breast cancer at an earlier stage can provide more treatment options and is an important part of improving outcomes. If a mammogram shows an area that needs a closer look, your provider may recommend additional imaging, such as a diagnostic mammogram or ultrasound, and in some cases a biopsy.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we offer 3D mammography, also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, to provide a more detailed view of breast tissue.

Breast cancer screening recommendations can vary based on your age, personal health history, and individual risk factors. Talk with your healthcare provider about the screening schedule that is right for you.

If you’re due for a mammogram, call or text 480-895-9555 to schedule your appointment with New Horizons Women’s Care
