🔬 Cranial Cervical Instability (CCI) is a medical condition that occurs when the ligaments and connective tissues that support the head and neck become weakened or damaged. This can lead to excessive movement between the skull and the upper cervical spine, causing a variety of symptoms such as chronic headaches, neck pain, vertigo, and even cognitive impairment. 🧠

🔗 CCI is often seen in individuals with conditions such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome but can also be caused by trauma or degenerative changes in the spine. Treatment for CCI may include physical therapy, medication, or in severe cases, surgery.

🔎 Dysautonomia patients often suffer from ‘Coat Hanger’ Pain.

🔹 This pain is characterized by suboccipital and paracervical pain in the neck and upper back.
🔹 This appears to be mainly a problem in patients who have difficulty maintaining their blood pressure when standing or upright.
🔹 It is believed to be caused by poor blood flow to the upper neck and back.

Dysautonomias all involve the autonomic nervous system (ANS). When the ANS is not working properly, the blood flow pattern may be disrupted leading to pain.

✨ Let’s talk about a condition that often gets overlooked, Gastroparesis, aka delayed stomach emptying.

It’s a digestive motility disorder where the stomach muscles don’t move food like they should, causing food to sit in the stomach too long.

💥 Common symptoms:
🔹 Nausea or vomiting
🔹 Stomach pain & bloating
🔹 Early fullness (after a few bites)
🔹 Still feeling full hours after eating
🔹 Belching or unintentional weight loss

Gastroparesis can be mild or severe, and it affects people of all body sizes. It’s also more common in those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD).

🩺 What is Hyperadrenergic POTS by Dr. David Saperstein✨

🔬 Hyperadrenergic POTS is defined by heightened plasma norepinephrine levels (the sympathetic nervous system neurotransmitter) exceeding 600 pg/mL, accompanied by a systolic blood pressure elevation of more than 10 mmHg after standing for 10 minutes. This condition signifies an excessive activation of the sympathetic nervous system.

❤️‍🩹 POTS patients are often misdiagnosed as having anxiety or panic disorder but their symptoms are real and can severely limit a person's ability to function.
