Shoulder pain is not something you should simply ignore or push through.

If activities like reaching overhead, lifting groceries, putting away dishes, throwing a ball, or sleeping on your side cause discomfort, it's a signal from your body that something needs attention.

As one of the most mobile joints in your body, the shoulder depends on strength, stability, and flexibility for optimal function. Lacking any of these can lead to pain and reduced range of motion over time.

Fortunately, many shoulder problems can improve with appropriate exercises, healthy habits, and early intervention.

Feeling the valley heat? Stay hydrated. Hotter weather raises the risk of dehydration—fatigue, headaches, and lower performance can follow. Carry a water bottle and sip often, even if you're not thirsty.

Staying hydrated does more than support muscle function and aid in recovery after physical activity; it also helps the body regulate temperature. As a result, overall performance improves. Proper hydration keeps joints lubricated and energy levels stable, ensuring the most out of activities during the warmer months.

Lat mobility and shoulder stability play a major role in an efficient golf swing.

When the lats are tight or shoulder stability is lacking, it can limit rotation, affect swing mechanics, and place added stress on the shoulders, neck, and lower back.

As part of a TPI functional movement screen, we assess mobility and stability patterns to identify limitations that may be impacting performance or contributing to discomfort.

Better mobility + better stability = smoother movement and more efficient power transfer through the swing.

Athletes often power through discomfort, but ignoring minor issues can lead to bigger problems.

Tightness, weakness, reduced mobility, or minor pain can alter an athlete's movement and place additional stress on other parts of the body. Over time, this often triggers overuse injuries and recurring pain.

Physical therapy pinpoints movement problems early, builds strength and mobility, and keeps athletes performing well before a small issue sidelines them.

Injury prevention does more than aid recovery. It helps athletes move, perform their best, and stay in the game.

Cupping is a technique we sometimes use in physical therapy to help support recovery and enhance movement.

It creates gentle suction to lift and mobilize soft tissue. It is often used with exercise and manual therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Potential benefits of cupping include:
• Increased blood flow to targeted areas
• Reduced muscle tension and tightness
• Improved tissue mobility and flexibility
• Support for recovery after activity or injury
• Temporary relief of discomfort in specific areas

Cupping is not a standalone solution, but it can be a helpful addition to your overall care plan.

Surgery is only the beginning. Real recovery happens during rehab.

Whether you’ve had an ACL or MCL repair, rotator cuff surgery, or a joint replacement, physical therapy helps you regain movement, build strength, relieve pain, prevent future injury, and return safely to your daily routine or sport.

Recovery is different for everyone. Your rehab plan should fit your procedure, your goals, and your pace. It should focus on movement, stability, and lasting function.

With the right support, you can move forward confidently and get back to what matters most to you.

Lower back pain does not always begin where you feel it.

Stiffness, weakness, or limited movement can cause discomfort and change how you move each day. The good news is that many types of back pain improve with specific exercises and the right support.

Do not let ongoing pain become your new normal. Consult with a healthcare professional early and begin recommended exercises to keep moving with confidence.
