For more than 50 years, Special Olympics Arizona has led the movement for inclusion through sport, creating opportunities for athletes of all abilities to experience dignity, joy, confidence, and community. Through this entire time, the Thunderbirds have been one of the most prominent and consistent supporters of Special Olympics Arizona.

We are deeply grateful to Thunderbird Charities and the Thunderbirds for their incredible support of our mission and SOAZ athletes. Their generosity will help ensure that thousands of SOAZ athletes continue to live out the Special Olympics athlete oath: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

With this support from Thunderbird Charities, Special Olympics Arizona athletes will have expanded opportunities to demonstrate excellence, improve physical fitness, and build lifelong relationships through sports. These funds will support SOAZ’s 2026–2027 athletic season, including all statewide competitions events impacting more than 4,000 athletes from across Arizona.
