Moksha Ayurveda PHX Moksha Ayurveda is the holistic healthcare practice of Lorilee Gillmore. Combining the 5000 year old

Lorilee fell into Ayurveda during her Yoga Teacher Training at At One Yoga in 2007. This finding was a natural evolution stemming from 15 years as a bodyworker and the long belief in food as medicine. After finishing her first certification from the Kerala Ayurvedic Academy as class valedictorian, she was honored to study Tantra and Ayurveda with Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) in the Himalayas. She has continued her education with both Dr. Marc Halpern at The Shivananda Ashram and Dr. Vasant Lad at The Ayurvedic Institue.

TOMORROW NIGHT!

🌙New Moon Cocoon and Nidra
📅Saturday, October 10th at 6:30PM
📍Moksha Ayurveda Phx

An evening of intention, elevation, and energetic renewal.

The new Moon is a time to plant seeds for our dreams and desires. As the moon waxes, so too can your intentions grow, gaining clarity and strength until they bloom at the full moon. Harness the fresh energy of the New Moon in this unique blend of restorative aerial yoga and sound healing.

Cuddle up in a cocoon-like hammock while sound vibrations promote deep relaxation and mental healing. These events often involve sound instruments like gongs, singing bowls, and chimes, creating a restorative and meditative experience.

No aerial experience needed. Just bring an open heart and your intention for the new lunar cycle.

💕 Space is limited, RSVP is required for this offering.

*Prefer to stay grounded? Three cozy nests on the ground spaces are available in lieu of the silks.
Investment: $40

There are many ways to balance and cleanse the sense of hearing. Begin by giving yourself time each day in silence to intentionally tune your hearing. An easy practice is to allow your hearing to extend outward and just notice what you hear. Each sound we hear will have both a psychological and a physiological effect. What are the sounds of nature that you hear and what are mechanical sounds that you may notice?

When we listen to beautiful music, receive sound healing, or hear poetry a stream of feel-good chemicals flows through the body. These will support our immune system, rebuild the tissues of our bodies, and ease our mind. Tune in to feel your body and you will know if what you are hearing is creating balance in the system. Hopefully you feel refreshed, clear and harmonious.

Sound/music therapy is a wonderful way to bring balance and healing to any of the three doshas that may be out of balance. Depending on your constitution or current imbalance, listening to different types of instruments and rhythms can help to restore balance. According to Ayurveda the opposite quality will bring balance.

If your vata is high you may feel ungrounded and anxious due to the exacerbation of the ether and air elements. Music that is very mellow, soft, and rhythmic with lower tones will help balance Vata. Find recordings with instruments that have deep resonance like bass, cello, wind instruments or perhaps some relaxing acoustic guitar.

Dandelion greens are a favorite of mine in the spring to support cleansing but in the fall I reach for the root. What is so great about dandelions you may ask? Packed with health-promoting properties, this member of the daisy family has been used as an herbal remedy for thousands of years in many cultures.

The root can be used to promote better digestion, clear excess heat, and toxins from the liver and blood. Its antimicrobial properties can stop the growth of bacteria and have even been effective against food-borne illness and staph infections. This magical root is high in fiber, considered a cooling digestive stimulate which means it can help to improve digestion, especially of fats, and can help to promote healthy cholesterol.

The root is also a mild purgative and can be used for pitta and kapha related constipation, due to sluggish gall bladder and bowel function. The root has also been shown to support liver function by preventing damage and may even help reduce cancer growth.

This magnificent, dried root is one of the star ingredients in my coffee alternative tea blend. Contact me for more information!

Implement practices within yourself, to change our consciousness. This will alter the collective consciousness so that we desire to live in such a way that not only every lifeform benefit but also the planet itself.

Patanjali in the second book of the yoga sutras shares the playbook of this shift in the 8 Limbs of Yoga. He tells us that we can prepare for “that suffering which has not yet come.” Using his preparation methods means we can avoid it altogether, reduce its full impact, or create the conditions in our inner world that will allow us to embrace it.

Fully realizing the first two limbs is the beginning of the path. See my previous post for a quick insight on the Yamas and Niyamas.

The foundation of the Yamas and the Niyamas when implemented in our lives have the result of both preparing for any upcoming suffering and shifting the direction that we are currently going.

Yama is sometimes referred to as “the five restraints” because it describes what one should avoid on the spiritual path.

Niyama, I like to approach as devotions or the five things you should do to make spiritual progress.

We receive specific results when these are integrated into our life.

For example, the first Yama is called ahimsa, which means non-harming. When this is so fully developed and established in our character that it is literally who we are then Patanjali teaches that “all hostility or enmity ceases in his/her presence”.

The second Yama, Satya, translates to truthfulness. When one is fully present in truthfulness then everything will come to you. When fully established in Asteya, non-stealing, then all wealth comes to you.

The benefits continue from one through ten.

Basically, when we are living in accordance with the Yamas and Niyamas then we will be existing in absolute flow. We will treat each other as we want to be treated. We will treat all living beings and the whole planet well too.
