That “Bluetooth earpiece” you may notice during a procedure isn’t for music or phone calls. It’s part of a precordial stethoscope system used to continuously monitor a patient’s airway and breathing throughout sedation and anesthesia care.

This additional layer of monitoring allows anesthesia providers to detect subtle changes in respiratory status in real time, supporting rapid assessment and enhanced patient safety during procedures.
