Which is better, 1 or 2?
When we ask "which is better, 1 or 2?" we're doing something called subjective refraction. The machine in front of your face is a phoropter, and it holds hundreds of lenses. But it can't tell us anything on its own. The whole answer lives in your brain's response to two nearly identical options. That's why the choices get harder near the end β we're closing in on the point where the difference is so small even you can barely tell. That's exactly where your prescription actually is.
