A loaded backpack can put more strain on a growing spine than most parents realize, and kids rarely mention it until they are actively feeling pain.
Here are a few things to check before the first day:
▪️ Both straps on, always. One shoulder throws everything off balance.
▪️ Keep the pack under about 10 to 15 percent of your child's body weight.
▪️ The bottom should sit at the waist, not down by the hips.
▪️ Heaviest books go closest to the back, not in the outside pocket.
▪️ Cinch the bag snug so it stays put instead of swinging.
If your student is already rolling their shoulders or complaining about their neck after school, that's a signal to have someone take a look.
