After spending time at StoryPoint, Dan Lee is back home and sharing his perspective on the experience, the people who supported him along the way, and the personal and practical considerations that come with deciding where to call home.

We're grateful to have been part of Dan's journey and appreciate his willingness to share such an honest perspective.

Because of some health issues, we spent several months living at StoryPoint, a senior living facility on the Iowa side of the river.

95 years old, nearly 500 songs, and a lifetime of love for music. 🎹💛

Meet Lou Newman, a resident at StoryPoint Carmel whose piano playing brings a little extra joy to her neighbors every day!

Whether she's welcoming visitors with a familiar tune, accompanying the resident choir, or playing a song that takes someone back to a special moment, Lou knows just how powerful music can be.

“People stop by the piano every day, they say, ‘I was so down this morning, but when I heard your music, it made me happy.’ So, how can you not play?”

We love seeing Lou's incredible story and passion for music in the spotlight! Read more about her lifelong love of music below. 💛

Louise Newman never gets tired of playing the piano. The 95-year-old, who everyone calls Lou, plays daily where she lives at StoryPoint Carmel, formerly Woodland Terrace of Carmel. There is a piano in the main area. “We have a piano or keyboard in every major room in this facility,” said Newma

✨ Friendships can spark out of nowhere! ✨

When our resident Maria mentioned that she would love to have an apron so she could help her daughter cook with the holidays approaching, Life Enrichment Assistant Chrissy knew just what to do. ❤️

Wanting to make Maria smile, Chrissy surprised her with a brand-new apron that perfectly matches her personality. The apron reads, "Shut Your Mouth and Eat!" 😆 Maria was absolutely thrilled with her special gift and couldn't stop smiling! Moments like these remind us that the little things, thoughtful gestures, and meaningful friendships make our community feel like home. 💕

📣 ATTENTION, TAILGATE FANS! 🏈
We have a cheerleader in the house, and apparently that comes with rules. 😂

Effective immediately, the official tailgate policy is:

🏈 TOUCHDOWN = PUSH-UPS. 💪

No exceptions. No excuses. No “my shoulder hurts.” 😉 If the team scores, the residents are expected to celebrate the only appropriate way—with a round of push-ups!

Because around here, we don’t just cheer for touchdowns… we earn them! 😂🏈💪📣

🏈 It’s the first tailgate of the season, and our residents are pumped and ready to go! 🎉

It truly takes a village to pull off these fun festivities, and we’re so grateful for everyone who pitches in to make them happen. A big thank you to Marvel, Connie, and R for coming down early and helping prep the food! ❤️

We appreciate you all and can’t wait for a great season of tailgates, good food, and even better company! 🙌
