Story:
Last month, Tara took our residents out to beat the heat with water balloons, water guns, and sprinklers! They had so much fun getting to spend the time together in the sun and staying cool. 🌞⛲

School is starting soon and we are ready for the fall weather and cooler temperatures at Clark’s Mountain. This month we are excited to add another resident led activity: Music with Brenda and Tommy! After leading music most of her life, Ms. Brenda volunteered to lead a time of music a couple times a month and everyone is excited to hear her sing!

Activity: Headbandz
Story:
We made up our own cards and played Headbandz this month as a group. Our residents and staff had so much fun making guesses, giving clues, and laughing at ourselves. This was a quick hit and we are excited to play again in August and have more difficult words!

WOW Meal with Patty
Patty’s favorite meal is homemade lasagna with seven layer salad and garlic bread. Her mom made it when she was younger and she loved watching her make it. She used all fresh ingredients including making her own sauce for it and cutting up her own vegetables from the garden. It has been a family tradition to make this meal. Her mom would boil the noodles, make the sauce from scratch, cut up the peppers and onions for it while the hamburger cooks. To assemble it, she would layer sauce, noodles, hamburger, cheese, and then repeat until you end up with sauce and cheese on top. For the cheese mixture, she uses ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan.
For the seven layer salad, Patty combines lettuce, frozen green peas, cucumber, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and other vegetables from the garden as she has them available. She would pour her dressing on top and then chill it in the fridge overnight before serving. Patty and her mom would make garlic bread from scratch as well to bring the whole meal together.
