On this day in 1970, Anna Mae Hays and Elizabeth P. Hoisington became the first women in U.S. Army history to officially receive the rank of General Officer. Their achievement helped pave the way for generations of women to serve and lead with strength, compassion, and determination.

At Cox-Needham Funeral Home, this piece of history hits especially close to home. While funeral service was once a profession dominated by men, many of the caring faces serving our families today are women.
