In Loving Memory of Jorge Rano
November 25, 1955 – June 3, 2026

Jorge Rano, beloved father, grandfather, family member, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 70.

Born in the historic San Telmo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Jorge carried with him throughout his life the warmth, pride, and spirit of his Argentine roots. He later made his home Largo, Florida, where he built a life centered around family, friendship, and hard work.

Jorge was the owner of a painting company and took great pride in providing for his family through years of dedication and perseverance. Those who knew him admired his work ethic, his resilience, and his willingness to help others whenever he could.

While he worked hard, Jorge's greatest joy came from spending time with the people he loved. He was happiest gathered around a barbecue with family and friends, casting a fishing line into the water, sitting around a card table sharing stories, or simply enjoying the company of those closest to him. He had a way of bringing people together and making everyone feel welcome.

Above all, Jorge was a devoted father and grandfather. He leaves behind his loving children, Gabriela and George Rano, and his cherished grandchildren, Leandra, Jayden, George Jr., and Liam. Nothing brought him greater pride than watching his family grow and seeing the next generation carry on the values he held dear.

Jorge will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family, his sense of humor, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the stories shared around family tables, the lessons he passed on, and the love he leaves behind.

The family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with the Lord. May perpetual light shine upon him, and may he rest in eternal peace.

Marion Lester "Bub" Friend
June 14, 1945 - May 16, 2026

Marion Lester “Bub” Friend rode off into the sunset on May 16, 2026, at age 80, likely headed somewhere with real country music playing (the kind with steel guitars and heartbreak), cartoons on the television, and a long list of projects waiting to be “fixed later.”

Born on June 14, 1945, Bub was baptized at the Community of Christ Church in Oklahoma. An Okey through and through, Bub never rushed anywhere unless someone needed help, supper was ready, or there was a good Western on TV.

Bub proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Specialist and Emergency Medical Technician. After retiring from military life, he continued helping others as an EMT for the Florida State Prison, then managed Spencer’s Western Wear like a true cowboy should. During the holidays, Bub brought smiles to countless pets and families as a part-time Santa Claus, a role he truly enjoyed. A talented woodworker, dollhouse maker, locksmith, and neighborhood handyman, Bub had the rare ability to stare at a problem silently for five minutes before solving it with duct tape, a screwdriver, and pure stubbornness.

Bub was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Natividad “Naty” Friend, his children, Rose Gentile (Friend), Joseph Friend, Jennifer Griffiths (Friend), and Julius Friend; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren who will forever carry his stories, humor, and unbiased love forward. Though he may be gone from this world, somewhere Bub is probably organizing Heaven’s toolbox, adjusting the locks on the pearly gates, and explaining to everyone what “real” country music sounds like.

A memorial service honoring Marion Lester “Bub” Friend will be held on June 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Taylor Family Funeral Home, 5300 Park Blvd, Pinellas Park, Florida 33781.

A Funeral Service will be held on July 18th, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Cleveland, Oklahoma, 74020.

Moms are the fixers of scraped-up knees,
The finders of shoes and lost TV remotes with ease.
They answer our questions (all fifty a day),
Then somehow still smile when we ask anyway.

They survive little sleep and mountains of laundry,
Cold cups of coffee and schedules gone contrary.
They’ve mastered the art of doing it all,
While making the hard days feel not hard at all.

They’re part-time chefs and full-time hearts,
Keeping families together in a million small parts.
With hugs that heal and wisdom that sticks,
And the magical power to “just know things” quick.

And for those whose moms live now in memory,
Their love still remains in the roots of the family tree.
In recipes, traditions, laughter, and grace,
A mother’s love never truly leaves its place.

So today we celebrate every kind of mom,
The loud, the quiet, the patient, the strong.
Thank you for the love you give day after day —
The world is better because of moms in every way.

Today, we celebrate and give thanks to the incredible mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, and mother figures who make our lives better every single day.

You are the quiet strength behind all of us, the source of endless love, encouragement, sacrifice, and support. Your impact reaches far beyond the home — shaping communities, building traditions, inspiring future generations, and reminding us of what compassion and resilience truly look like.

Thank you for everything you do, often without recognition, but always with love.

We also hold close in our thoughts the mothers who are no longer with us. For many, this day is filled not only with gratitude but with the remembrance of mom’s love, guidance, and presence that lives forever, deep in our hearts.

From all of us at Taylor Family Funeral Home, we wish you a heartfelt, peaceful, and love-filled Mother’s Day.

Thomas William Eshelman
September 24, 1960 – April 27, 2026

Thomas “Tom” "Tommy" William Eshelman, a man who believed every problem had a solution and every engine had a story, passed away on April 27, 2026, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Tom eventually moved to Florida to be near the family he cherished.

A lifelong learner with a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Hartford and a subsequent MBA, Tom dedicated thirty years to Pratt & Whitney. He concluded his distinguished career with immense pride as a civilian engineer for the U.S.A. Thunderbirds. Whether he was diagnosing complex aerospace issues or troubleshooting air conditioning machinery, Tom’s passion for mechanics was matched only by his determination.

He was known as the smartest man in the room—a title earned not just through his degrees, but through his willingness to help. From financial investment strategies to life advice, Tom was the person everyone turned to. He was famous for his quick wit and "Tom-isms," often challenging others with a grin: “What a concept!”, “Look in the owner’s manual!”, or the classic, “You picking up what I am laying down?” If you dared a weak retort, you were met with a dry, “Your repertoire of comebacks is juvenile.”

Tom faced a two-year battle with aggressive esophageal cancer with the same grit he applied to his engineering. His courage remained a source of strength for his loved ones until the very end. As it says in 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Tom is reunited in peace with his parents, Richard and Mary (Mackie) Eshelman, and his sister, Mary Anne Townsend.

His legacy lives on through the sons he raised, Will Gabriel (Sarah) and Dan Gabriel (Adriana Sita); Madeline Fraser (Ian), the daughter of his heart; his brother, David Eshelman (Liz); and his loyal Sheepadoodle, Sammy. He also leaves behind a community of wonderful friends who blessed him daily with their support.

The lives Tom touched are stronger, wiser, and better for having known him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the non-profit Esophageal Cancer Action Network. https://ecan.org/give-to-save-lives-2/

Services will be held privately.
