1. Another sleep hygiene checklist? It won't touch what's actually keeping you up.
2. That new supplement? It can't regulate a nervous system that doesn't feel safe.
3. Blackout curtains, again? You've already tried that. It's not the missing piece.
4. Trying harder to "just relax"? Your brain doesn't work that way at 3am.

None of these were ever the real problem. I know because I lived it — I'm a sleep physician who couldn't sleep, and I optimized every single one of these before anything actually changed.

What changed it? Regulating my nervous system, not managing my environment.

Comment RESET and I'll send you the exact shift that finally let me sleep through the night — and the tool I now use with my patients.

📌 Save this if you've tried "everything" already

When I was in Italy, I bought a hat that says "Mediterranean Spirit".. and I'm bringing that spirit to my plate this week.

I couldn't stay overseas enjoying good food forever, so this is a friendly reminder for you and for me that we can add a bit of Mediterranean flavor to our lives even in the states 😊

Because what you eat today helps shape how your brain functions tomorrow.

Research continues to show that diets rich in colorful plant foods are associated with better brain health and a lower risk of cognitive decline. These are the key components of the MIND-diet, a combination of the Mediterranean diet with a bit of green tea which has been shown to reduce the risk of cognitive decline and dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Rather than focusing on one "superfood," think about building colorful meals throughout the week.

🥬 Leafy greens
🫐 Berries
🥦 Broccoli
🍎 Apples
🍵 Green tea

Every small choice adds up.

Which of these foods is already a regular part of your routine?

This was me, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed 12 years ago… with absolutely no idea where this journey would take me 😆🩺

Today, I'm the founder and CEO of DreamLife Medicine & Wellness— building the kind of practice where I am proud to take care of patients, where I actually have time to listen, where the patient's needs come first, and where we look beyond symptoms to care for the whole person.

So grateful for every teacher, mentor, patient, colleague, friend, and family member who's been part of this journey, and especially grateful to the institutions that helped shape the physician I became. Thank you, University of Miami, Mayo Clinic, and Emory University, for giving that bright-eyed girl an incredible foundation.💚

These days at DreamLife Medicine & Wellness, I get to bring together sleep medicine, metabolic health, lifestyle medicine, and mind-body medicine to help people sleep better, and feel good in their bodies and in their health.

Twelve years later, I'm still bright-eyed, just with a much clearer sense of the kind of medicine I love to practice. Here's to building a different kind of medicine, one patient, one conversation, one small step at a time! 😁

Ever feel like your brain declares war on you the second your head hits the pillow?

You've done everything "right." The routine, the blackout curtains, the supplements. And you're still wide awake at 3am, exhausted, done.

Here's what nobody tells you: this isn't a sleep hygiene problem. It's a nervous system that hasn't learned it's safe to let go yet.

I'm a sleep physician who went through this myself — and once I stopped trying to manage my environment and started regulating my nervous system, everything changed.

Comment CALM NIGHTS and I'll send you the tool I use to help my patients fall back asleep in minutes, not hours.

Which one sounds like you — wired but exhausted, or wide awake and furious about it?

🌿 We're walking tomorrow.

If you've been needing a little fresh air, meaningful conversation, or simply a reminder that you're not alone, we'd love to have you join us.

Tomorrow's Walk With a Doc is an opportunity to slow down, connect with others, and reflect on this month's theme:

There's Strength in Every Step Forward.

Together, we'll talk about how self-compassion, connection, rest, and community can support healing through life's challenges.

One of the most important lessons I've learned as both a physician and a patient is this:
You know your body better than anyone else.

Years ago, I woke up with blurry vision in my right eye. I was told my vision was "20/20," even though I knew something wasn't right. I trusted my instincts, sought another opinion, and was eventually diagnosed with optic neuritis—inflammation of the optic nerve.

Living with a chronic condition has given me a deeper understanding of what many of my patients experience. It has taught me the importance of listening, advocating for yourself, and remembering that healing isn't always about having all the answers—it's about taking the next right step.

If something doesn't feel right, don't be afraid to ask questions or seek a second opinion. You deserve to be heard.

💙 And remember, none of us are immune to life's challenges—not even doctors. What matters is how we support one another through them.

Good health isn't built by doing everything perfectly.

It's built by the small choices we make every single day.

💧 Drinking more water.
🚶 Moving your body in a way that feels possible.
🥗 Nourishing yourself with wholesome foods.
❤️ Connecting with the people you love.

If you're living with chronic pain or another health condition, movement may look different—and that's okay. Instead of focusing on what you can't do, ask yourself:

"What's one thing I can do today that my future self will thank me for?"

Those small wins add up. Celebrate them, because they matter more than perfection ever will.

💚 There's strength in every step forward.

Grief is something we all experience in different ways.

It may come after losing a loved one, navigating illness, experiencing a major life change, or letting go of the future we imagined. Whatever your story, healing isn't something we have to rush—and we don't have to do it alone.

This month at Walk With a Doc, we're recognizing National Grief Awareness Month with a conversation about how connection, self-compassion, rest, honest conversation, and community can gently support healing.
