⚾Business at the Ballpark⚾
We’re excited to share that our Practice Manager, Jessica, had the opportunity to attend Business at the Ballpark at Citizens Bank Park, hosted by Independence Blue Cross in partnership with the Philadelphia Phillies!

As an avid Phillies fan, Jessica was especially excited to spend the morning at the ballpark while connecting with other members of the small business community. The event included networking, inspiring guest speakers—including 2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels—a behind-the-scenes tour of Citizens Bank Park, and plenty of baseball fun!

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow us to connect, learn, and grow alongside our local business community. And, of course, getting to do it at the ballpark makes it even better!

✨ Meet the Team Tuesday ✨
At Hope and Meaning Counseling, our team is passionate about providing compassionate, supportive, and personalized care to every individual we serve 💙

This week, we’re excited to introduce Karlie, LPC! 👋

Before becoming a therapist, Karlie spent years mentoring young artists and dancers, helping them build confidence, discover their strengths, and navigate personal challenges. Those experiences sparked her passion for understanding human development, resilience, and healing, ultimately leading her to pursue her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sacred Heart University.

Karlie specializes in working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are navigating anxiety, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors, attachment wounds, childhood trauma, and the lasting impact of difficult life experiences. She is especially passionate about supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and individuals seeking to better understand the patterns that continue to impact their relationships, emotions, and sense of self.

With a therapeutic style that is relational, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed, Karlie helps clients explore the experiences that have shaped them while developing healthier ways of coping, connecting, and understanding themselves. She incorporates EMDR, cognitive approaches, somatic interventions, and person-centered therapy to support clients in healing from trauma, managing anxiety, and creating meaningful change.

In addition to her clinical work, Karlie is a co-author with Franc E. Hudspeth on a chapter exploring the neuroscience of play in 'The Therapeutic Powers of Play: Comparing Theories and Practice' (Drewes & Hudspeth, 2025). She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and continues to expand her knowledge of trauma, attachment, and healing.

Karlie believes that many of the challenges we experience in adulthood have roots in earlier experiences, relationships, and environments that shaped how we learned to view ourselves and the world around us. Her goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where clients can better understand their patterns, process difficult experiences, and develop new ways of relating to themselves and others.

We’re grateful to have Karlie as part of the HMC team and for the compassion, expertise, and support she brings to our community every day 🌿

For our Lyra clients:

🌺 Since UPenn has moved to using Lyra for EAP, there has been some confusion on how to set up client portals completely so that EAP billing can occur through Lyra and you won’t be charged a copay. Lyra may manage your benefits after EAP billing is exhausted, and then you might have a copay; our admin staff can check on individual situations.

🌺 How to add your health plan and credit card information to your Lyra Profile:

🌺 Setting up your Health Plan:

1. Login to Lyra's secure online portal at: care.lyrahealth.com using your registered email address

2. Click on the menu bar located on the top right hand corner and click on "Profile"

3. Scroll down to “Your health plan” and click "Add"

4. Click "Add" in the box "Part 1: Health plan information"

5. Add your Health Plan information

6. Ensure that your member ID matches that of your Health Plan ID exactly as it is case sensitive

7. If you are over 18, please add your own name and date of birth

8. Click “Save”

9. Add your payment card information and click Save

10. Review the information shown in both the "Your health plan" and "Cost-sharing" sections

🌺 Note: Your credit card will be used for any cost sharing and copays as any other in-network behavioral and mental health office visit as defined under your specific plan.

Please let us know if you have any questions at (267) 528-9037 or [email protected]

✨Meet the Team Tuesday✨

At Hope and Meaning Counseling, our team is passionate about creating a supportive and compassionate space where individuals and families feel heard, understood, and empowered. 💙

This week, we're excited to introduce Cat, one of our incredible clinicians! 👋 Cat earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Wilmington University and her Master's degree in Social Work from Rutgers University while balancing many roles along the way. As a multiracial first-generation immigrant who moved from Germany to the United States, a single mother, and advocate for the hearing-impaired community, Cat brings a unique perspective and deep understanding of the challenges that can come with navigating identity, change, belonging, and life's unexpected transitions. These experiences have shaped her commitment to creating an inclusive space where individuals from all backgrounds feel welcomed, respected, and understood.

Cat believes therapy is a collaborative and empowering process that helps transform pain into resilience while creating a life that feels authentic and meaningful. Her approach is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, and person-centered, drawing from evidence-based practices including trauma-focused therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), experiential interventions, and person-centered therapy. She tailors each session to the unique strengths, goals, and needs of every client, ensuring therapy is personalized rather than one-size-fits-all.

Cat enjoys working with children, adolescents, and young adults navigating anxiety, panic attacks, overwhelming emotions, low self-esteem, ADHD-related concerns, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and major life transitions. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals healing from childhood trauma, family conflict, abuse, grief, medical experiences, religious or cultural trauma, chronic illness, postpartum concerns, cultural identity, minority stress, and the unique experiences of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Her goal is to help clients better understand themselves, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen boundaries and relationships, and build the confidence and resilience needed to create lasting change.

Outside of the therapy room, Cat enjoys painting, spending time in nature, reading, and constantly learning something new. She believes laughter is one of life's greatest tools for healing and connection, and she isn't afraid to bring appropriate humor into sessions. A self-proclaimed nerd at heart, she also enjoys anime, role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, and exploring how stories, creativity, and imagination help us make meaning of our experiences and support the healing journey.

We're grateful to have clinicians like Cat on our team who bring authenticity, compassion, creativity, and dedication into the work they do every day. 🌿

🌿 Thursday Mental Health Check-In 🌿
As Thursday rolls in, it’s a good moment to notice how much you’ve already carried this week.

You don’t need to push through on autopilot. You’re allowed to slow down, take breaks, and give yourself credit for what you’ve managed so far—even if it doesn’t feel like “enough.”

If today feels heavy, try focusing on just what’s in front of you instead of the whole week. One task. One conversation. One breath at a time.

And if you’re feeling tired, that’s valid too. Rest is not something you have to earn—it’s something you’re allowed to take.

At Hope and Meaning Counseling, we’re here to remind you that support is always an option, not a last resort.

You’re closer to the weekend than you think. Keep going, gently. 💙

✨ Meet the Team Tuesday✨
At Hope and Meaning Counseling, our team is passionate about creating a supportive and compassionate space where individuals and families feel heard, understood, and empowered. 💙

This week, we're excited to introduce Jason, one of our incredible clinicians! 👋 After earning a B.S. in Psychology from Thomas Jefferson University in 2025 and a M.S. in Community and Trauma Counseling in 2026, Jason has had the opportunity to work with teens in a high school setting, adults and couples in private practice, and survivors through volunteer work with a crisis hotline. These experiences have shaped his compassionate, trauma-informed approach to helping clients navigate life's challenges.

As a first-generation American-Guatemalan and transgender man, Jason understands how meaningful it can be to have a space where you don't have to explain or justify who you are. He is passionate about creating an affirming, judgment-free environment where clients can show up authentically, explore their experiences, and feel accepted exactly as they are.

Jason believes therapy should be as unique as each individual. Using an integrative, trauma-focused approach, he tailors each session to a client's strengths, goals, and lived experiences rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method. He enjoys working with teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, identity exploration, relationship challenges, unhealthy relationship patterns, communication difficulties, and life transitions. His goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build healthier coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and create a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.

Outside of the therapy room, Jason enjoys drawing, expressing creativity through art, watching horror movies, celebrating Halloween, and trying new recipes in the kitchen. He believes our passions and creativity often tell an important part of our story and can become valuable tools throughout the healing process.

We're grateful to have clinicians like Jason on our team who bring authenticity, compassion, and dedication into the work they do every day. 🌿

Carolyn earned her Master's degree in Clinical and Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Children and Adolescent Studies from Chestnut Hill College and has spent more than three years working in outpatient mental health settings.

Carolyn is passionate about helping children, adolescents, young adults, and adults build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful change in their lives. She believes healing begins when people have the opportunity to explore their experiences in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where they feel truly heard and understood.

Using evidence-based approaches including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, and strengths-based interventions, Carolyn works collaboratively with clients to help them better understand their experiences, manage difficult emotions, strengthen relationships, and develop practical skills they can use long after therapy ends.

Happy Father’s Day from Hope & Meaning Counseling 💙

Today, we celebrate and honor all the fathers and father figures who show up in big and small ways each day. Whether through guidance, support, patience, encouragement, protection, laughter, or simply being present—your impact matters.

We also recognize that Father’s Day can bring many emotions. For some, today is joyful. For others, it may bring grief, complicated relationships, longing, healing, or remembrance. Wherever you find yourself today, your experience is valid.

To the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster dads, chosen family, mentors, and father figures—thank you for the care and connection you provide.

And to those missing someone today or navigating difficult emotions, we’re holding space for you too.

Wishing everyone a day filled with compassion, reflection, and moments of connection. 💙
