Food Is Medicine in Southeast Kansas!
Food Is Medicine connects nutritious food, individualized nutrition support and healthcare to help people take meaningful steps toward better health.
This year, CHC/SEK has been grateful to support Food Is Medicine programs in Pittsburg through Wesley House Pittsburg KS Food Pantry and Humboldt through our B&W Trailer Hitches worksite partnership. Participants receive medically tailored groceries, nutrition education, cooking skills and one-on-one counseling with our dietitian, alongside support from their healthcare team, to make healthy choices more accessible and sustainable.
This work is possible because of the incredible community partners who help bring these programs to life. Thank you to Wesley House Food Pantry and B&W for partnering with us to bring Food Is Medicine to our communities; K-State Extension - Wildcat District for leading nutrition education; Heather Horton of TOAST for sharing cooking and kitchen skills; Kansas Food Bank for helping stock participant pantries with heart-healthy choices; and Ron's Supermarket in Pittsburg and O U R M a R K E T in Humboldt for providing fresh produce for medically tailored groceries.
We are also grateful to the Sunflower Foundation and Health Forward Foundation for investing in this work and helping make Food Is Medicine possible in Southeast Kansas.
