Day after day, cases of measles are spiraling in Pennsylvania:

Three people hospitalized and 16 others sickened by the highly infectious disease in Lebanon County.

Two students from a Mennonite school in neighboring Lancaster County falling ill.

In just the past six weeks, the virus has spread to more than three dozen people in both counties — 22 in the last week — in an outbreak that has spurred state health agents to track the infections and try to rein in the disease.

In all, the virus has infected at least 60 people in six counties this year — the highest number in the state in three decades. Only six other states have more cases this year.
