We meet monthly for supported communication groups for people with Aphasia, their families, caretakers, and SLPs.

We had a great meeting this week!

September 2nd Recap:

It was so nice to see you all back together after a long late summer break.

We welcomed our new graduate students for the Fall Semester this week: Addison, Karsen, and Nish*ta. It was great getting to know them.

-We then shared information regarding:
• Update 1 - Districts Week Outcomes
• Update 2 - Stroke Onward Virtual Conference Panel Opportunity
• Update 3 - Guest Speakers & Member Spotlights

-We then broke off into our small groups!
    • Topic Group: Aphasia Amble & Picnic Planning - Keep a look out for a google form this week - it will be due back by Wednesday 9/9!
     • Game Group: Conversation Jenga - More conversation this week, than Jenga, but that is what we love to hear!
     • Open Conversation Group: Lots of catching up and reminiscing!

We had a great meeting this week!

July 29th Recap:

This week at group we finished off our Caregiver Spotlight Month with an amazing presentation from Amy!

-We then shared information regarding:
• Update 1 - Birthdays!
• Update 2 - Fall semester programming
• Update 3 - Aphasia Amble & Picnic

-We then broke off into our small groups!
     • Topic Group: In topic group, we discussed the details of our PCAC Cookbook. If you’d like to share a recipe to be included in the cookbook, bring a copy next week or email it to Chrisa.
     • Game Group: In game group this week, members played Shenanigrams. In this game, players draw letter tiles and use them to build words. Opponents can steal your words by adding or changing letters.
     • Open Conversation Group: Members open conversation group enjoyed discussing various topics with each other.

Join us for our last meeting of the summer on Wednesday, August 5th!

We had a great meeting this week!

July 22nd Recap:

We continued our Caregiver Spotlight Month with a wonderful presentation from Jim. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Jim!

-We then shared information regarding:
• Update 1 - July & August calendars
• Update 2 - Fall semester programming

-We then broke off into our small groups!
     • Topic Group: In the topic group, we discussed ideas for the PTARI Art Project. We’ll review this discussion during the support group next Wednesday.
     • Game Group: In our game group this week, we played Heads Up! A word guessing game where you hold your phone or iPad up to your head and get clues from your friends to guess the word on the screen. Members enjoyed giving and getting clues to guess the target!
     • Open Conversation Group: Our open conversation group was led by Abby this week. Members shared discussions about what was on their minds.

As a reminder, Please bring a copy of a recipe for next week. OR email a digital copy to Chrisa as we continue to plan our aphasia-friendly cookbook!

We continued our Caregiver Spotlight Month with a wonderful presentation from Gary. Thank you for sharing your story with us, Gary!

• Update 1 - stroke survivor commemorating stroke anniversary by biking from Erie to Pittsburgh!
