🎶 Welcome Jazz! 🎶
Jasmine “Jazz” Andrews is a board-certified music therapist who earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Seton Hill University.
Jazz has been immersed in music since childhood, beginning piano, vocal performance, and stage work at the age of seven. She was inspired to research music therapy when she began babysitting an Autistic child in middle school who found comfort when Jazz would sing to her.
During her time at Seton Hill, she expanded her musical versatility by studying guitar and taking on leadership roles as a piano tutor and substitute group piano instructor. She was also an active member of the university’s Music Therapy Club.
Her collegiate performance experience is extensive. Jazz served as a solo vocalist and pianist in the Seton Hill University Commercial Ensemble for seven semesters, performed as an alto in the Women’s Chorale for seven semesters, and was selected for the Una Voce ensemble. She also contributed as a pianist in the university’s piano ensemble and as the accompanist for the Men’s Glee Club.
Beyond the university setting, Jazz continues to share her musical talents in the community, performing at weddings, church services, receptions, and memorial gatherings.
Professionally, Jazz integrates music into her work as a SWAN Permanency Specialist at Auberle, where she uses music therapy techniques to support youth in foster care through child preparation and post-permanency sessions.
Jazz believes in meeting people where they are developmentally, emotionally, creatively, and in all other aspects of their lives. In Columbus, Ohio, Jazz completed her music therapy internship at Bridgeway Academy, a school serving children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. During her internship, she facilitated individual and group music therapy sessions addressing communication, attention, emotional regulation, impulse control, cognitive functioning, and fine and gross motor skills. She also co-treated group and dyad music therapy sessions alongside speech and physical therapists and participated in interdisciplinary team meetings. Jazz received training in LAMP (Language Acquisition through Motor Planning) and gained experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies and Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS).
Jazz also facilitated music groups with children during her practicums in college and has worked professionally with children since 2020. Jazz wishes to instill musical confidence in anyone she encounters.
