There’s a lot of information out there about birth. It can be hard to w**d through it all! As a birth doula with seven years under my belt, attending births across all settings, my goal is to paint a clear picture of what labor and postpartum is like. This class is meant to give you a solid foundation around what to expect, your options, how to work with your labor, and setting expectations for postpartum. It is interactive, I keep you moving, and nothing is off limits! Bring all your questions, I’ve probably heard ‘em before.😉

All families and expectant parents are valued and welcome! 🏳️‍🌈

Please let me know if you have any questions at all. I can offer a sliding scale and hope to offer scholarship spaces but this is dependent on how many people register. Feel free to ask!🌻

If you want more than a list of coping tools, join me on June 28th to get into the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of working with labor! If your partner or support person, is feeling unsure or overwhelmed by how to support you in labor, come! If you are planning an unmedicated birth OR planning to utilize an epidural, come!✌️

This class is 2 1/2 hours with 30 minutes open for questions after. I will have some useful labor tools to give away as we go and I promise I will keep moving! If you have questions, please feel reach out. I’d love to see you there! 🌻

I would like to offer scholarship spaces, this will be slightly dependent on how many people sign up as I need to cover cost. Either way, always happy to work with you on it! ♥️

A lil’ breakdown of what it looks like to work with me prenatally.✌️

🔥AND hot tip, don’t wait till the end to hire a Doula! Most of us offer phone and text support from the time you sign a contract. That means if you hire a doula at 12 weeks, support starts then! Personally, I am also open to FaceTime and MarcoPolo as needed. We are all a little different, but I do think the vast majority of us make ourselves available to you right from the beginning!

Everyone is welcome! ♥️

UNDERSTANDING BIRTH PHYSIOLOGY 🦖
Once you understand how your body is wired and the ‘why’ behind it, you and your support team can more naturally connect to the how’.

HONEST PREPARATION 🫶
There’s already enough fear in birth, and this class won’t add to it. I won’t sugarcoat or gloss over what matters either. This class provides honest, realistic preparation for an empowered birth-defined by you.

INFORMED DECISION MAKING 🧠
Know your options, know how to ask questions, know that you do have a choice and a say in your care and experience.

From L.A. to Gaza…truly devastating.

And meanwhile, my life keeps moving forward—safe, comfortable, untouched.

As a white, cis woman, married to a white cis man, living what some would call the “American Dream”, I know I’ll never understand what it’s like to live as a person of color, an immigrant, or someone who’s trans or queer—especially under an administration like this one. I carry privilege that shields me from so much.

And this isn’t just about Trump. It’s about the systems of power and inequality that have been here all along. This country was built on white supremacy—and that history still shapes the present.

Years ago, I heard this phrase, “What we bury, we bury alive.” It was in relation to finding freedom in our lives by unearthing what we have buried. In the context of our country and culture, to me, that means the things we avoid—pain, injustice, uncomfortable truths— they don’t disappear when we close our eyes, deflect, repress…whitewash history. They don’t die; they stay alive under the surface, quietly shaping our thoughts, our systems, our future.

And now, families are being separated. Rights are being stripped. People are suffering because of who they are. It’s painful and overwhelming, and for many, it’s not new—it’s a continuation. It’s chilling to see how much this mirrors some of the darkest parts of history.

My heart breaks for those who carry the weight of all this every day.
We should be further than this by now.
I’m heartbroken. I’m angry.
And I stand with those who are impacted—always.

This will be our last month of postpartum circle! and I have really enjoyed gathering monthly with those who have attended over the last few years. I love how it’s allowed me to stay connected to birth clients and those who attended my birth classes, beyond your births. And really just special to have folks who came consistently for their entire first year postpartum. You know who you are, thanks for gathering with us! ♥️

If you would like to join us at this Thursday morning at 10:00 am for a time to connect and talk postpartum, we would love to have you!🌻

I have attended many trainings over the past six years, continuing education is a high value of mine. In Spring 2023 I completed a doula training with .birth that equipped me in a way no other training had. The mentorship and guidance I have received from Alicia and Meredith, co-founders of Intentional Birth, has truly been invaluable. That said, I am so excited to dive into advocacy training with them right here in Bellingham, April 11-12 and I would love for you to join us!

Here are the details on what we’ll learn! >>>>

This is the training you missed: the one that equips you to elevate your clients in the birth room. The one that educates you on the legal realities of birth, and on hospital policies, practices and loopholes. This is the training that helps you become a bridge-builder, a leader, a confident representative of your client’s needs and values as a certified patient advocate.

DAY 1- We cover the foundations of patient advocacy, including: how to prevent the need for most birth room advocacy; how to train and prepare clients in advocacy; understanding hospital culture, policy, and the law; and 23 concrete birth room advocacy tools.

DAY 2- A full day of scripted simulations, where you fill in the blank and practice the tools we learned on Day One. Seasoned doulas and real L&D pros wear the white coats and scrubs, and play out true stories with you. You get the chance to practice, mess up, try again, and get it right in a safe space with people who care about your success.

This training is open to all those in birth work, doulas, nurses, midwives…we’d love to see you there!
