Our team was honored to host Pennsylvania’s First Lady, Lori Shapiro, and state Secretary of Health, Dr. Debra Bogen at AHN West Penn. Together, we toured two spaces designed to support critical behavioral health services within our communities. Our Women's Behavioral Health team shared how our Alexis Joy D'Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health team supports women and families across our region who struggle with postpartum depression and other perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

First Lady Shapiro and Dr. Bogen also learned about the AHN Chill Project and had the opportunity to tour the AHN Chill Mobile van that brings calming spaces to area schools. AHN Chill Mobile allows our behavioral health teams to teach mindfulness and stress-reducing techniques to thousands of Pennsylvania school students each year! We appreciated the opportunity to have conversations with First Lady Shapiro and Dr. Bogen about the importance of removing stigmas around mental health treatment and providing new and innovative behavioral health services to those in need.

Rick and Jeff, friends and co-workers for 19 years, were both diagnosed with the same rare blood cancer within four months of each other. Proactive blood tests, early intervention and treatments provided by the AHN Cancer team, including Dr. Santhosh Sadashiv, an AHN oncologist and hematologist, were all pivotal moments in their health journey.
