We are filled with immense pride and gratitude following last night's special "Great Saves" recognition event at PNC Park! Our LifeFlight team was honored by the Pittsburgh Pirates and AHN for their critical contribution to a life-saving mission.
The story of Bob Miles is a powerful testament to the complete chain of survival. After experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, Bob's life was immediately impacted by the swift actions of bystanders and the heroic, on-scene care provided by Canonsburg Ambulance Service's Paramedic Zachary Seery, EMT Bobby Udani, Paramedic Elodie Krawczyk, and EMT Angela Burns.
Our LifeFlight crew – Flight Nurse Seth Kunkle, Flight Nurse Brenda Wamsley, and Pilot Nathan Simonson – then stepped in seamlessly. They provided expert aeromedical transport, ensuring Bob received the rapid, advanced critical care needed during his urgent flight to Allegheny General Hospital. Their specialized skills and quick decision-making in the air were instrumental in his continued stabilization and journey towards recovery.
It was an honor to have our team recognized on the field alongside Bob, his family, and the Canonsburg EMS crew. This moment truly highlighted the power of collaboration across all healthcare services. We extend our deepest thanks to Seth, Brenda, and Nathan for their unwavering dedication, and acknowledge the incredible teamwork with Canonsburg EMS and the medical teams at AGH.
What a night of celebration at PNC Park – not only for this "Great Save," but also with a fantastic 12-1 Pirates win over the Cubs and a fun Star Wars Night atmosphere!
