Another inspiring program joins our Acute Care Residency Spotlight series! 🌟 Ford Hospital Acute Care Residency

Located in Detroit, MI, the program includes 8 different rotations including: med/surg, orthopedics, cardiovascular, neurology/neurosurgery, medical ICU, surgical ICU, neuro ICU, and cardiopulmonary ICU. The heart of the program is its faculty, including 12 therapists with over 220 years of experience!

Every rotation pairs residents with 1-2 experts to develop clinical skills and critical thinking. The faculty includes 3 program graduates who provide valuable insight to continually improve the program from the resident perspective. Beyond clinical expertise, the program offers opportunities in clinical and academic teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, research, and didactic education.

The program admits residents each February and August and looks forward to meeting future applicants.

Our weekly Residency Spotlight is back with another exceptional program! Memorial Hermann Health System

This photo captures one of the recent graduates presenting her poster at CSM 2026—a proud moment for the Memorial Hermann Acute Care PT Residency Program in Houston, located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center and home to the only acute care residency program in Houston.

Residents at Memorial Hermann Health System train in a high-acuity, Level I teaching hospital, rotating through diverse clinical settings with experiences tailored to individual interests. Through a strong partnership with University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), residents also gain opportunities to teach in a DPT program and complete a mentored research project.

We’re proud of the leadership, mentors, and graduates who continue to advance acute care practice through scholarship, education, and clinical excellence.
