This National Physical Therapy Month, we're celebrating the incredible individuals who make a difference in acute care every day!

🌟 Meet Delia Ardoin, PT, DPT, from Broomfield, Colorado!

Delia knew before entering PT school that acute care was where she wanted to be! She loves the fast-paced, unpredictable environment and the opportunity to work alongside an interdisciplinary team dedicated to helping patients regain their independence.

💬 What does Delia love most about acute care?

"My favorite part of the job is when you see patients realize what they once thought was impossible, is actually possible."

For Delia, there's nothing more rewarding than helping patients recognize their own potential and take meaningful steps toward recovery. She encourages students interested in acute care to keep an open mind and never stop learning!

🏃‍♀️ Outside of work, Delia enjoys exploring the outdoors with friends and her dog, as well as running! She recently completed the D***y Challenge at Disney World, tackling a 5K, 10K, half marathon, AND full marathon on four consecutive days! 🏅

This National Physical Therapy Month, we're celebrating the incredible individuals who make a difference in acute care every day!

🌟 Meet Corey Nolte, PT, DPT, GCS, from St. Louis, Missouri!

Corey is an acute care physical therapist at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital and serves as a mentor in the SSM Health SLU Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency. Corey completed an acute care residency at Baylor University Medical Center and is a board-certified geriatric clinical specialist.

💬 What makes acute care physical therapy so meaningful?

For Corey, it's the opportunity to care for patients beyond their physical needs. Acute care therapists encounter a wide range of medical conditions while supporting patients through some of their most vulnerable moments.

📣 Help Wanted: Discharge Transitions CPG Data Extraction Team Members!

Are you passionate about evidence-based practice and discharge planning? Do you enjoy uncovering the details that shape clinical recommendations? If so, we need your help!

The Academy is seeking volunteers to assist with data extraction for the Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG), Physical Therapist Management of Older Adults During Transitions from the Hospital.

This important CPG aims to reduce variations in practice and outcomes by providing guidance on:
• Effective communication regarding physical function, mobility needs, and patient safety during discharge planning
• Selection of tests and measures that inform prognosis during transitions of care
• Appropriate post-discharge services that help bridge gaps in care and reduce unmet needs

No prior data extraction experience? No problem! A training session will be held next week on Oct. 19th at 2 pm EST with our methodologist, Jim Smith, PT, DPT, MA, FAPTA.
