Our Longest Day Luau was a wonderful day of fun, friendship, and fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association! 🌺☀️

The celebration began with a delicious Hawaiian-themed lunch, followed by an afternoon luau featuring live music, shaved ice, fresh fruit, and tropical punch. Residents, families, and staff enjoyed spending time together while raising awareness.

We wrapped up the festivities by announcing the winners of our raffle baskets, made possible through the generosity of our community. Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, and helped make this special event such a success! 💜

Our Father’s Day BBQ Bites & Brews celebration was filled with good food, great company, and plenty of smiles! We recognized the fathers and father figures in our community with a BBQ feast featuring ribs, wings, corn on the cob, and refreshing beverages. Thank you to the incredible men who have shared their guidance, strength, and wisdom over the years. We were delighted to celebrate you and all that you mean to our community!

Meet Joann! Joann moved into the Pines after having a fall that resulted in a spinal fracture. Joann went through extensive rehab and then started working with EmpowerMe a few months after moving in. Joann’s goal is to walk more, and she is certainly doing just that. She participates with Stacey in Physical Therapy and Rosie in Occupational therapy two times per week working to improve her strength, balance, endurance, and independence. Joann also regularly attends morning wellness classes to maximize her activity level.

Joann is making steady progress in her functional independence, balance, endurance, and safety. She gets herself dressed each morning and is now able to get up from her wheelchair independently and stand unsupported. She also can walk up and down the hallway with her walker with supervision. Joann wants to feel safe walking on her own, and we are excited to continue working with her and assisting her in gaining this confidence. She is a pleasure to work with, and we are so proud of the progress she is making. We have no doubt that she will achieve her goal of walking independently, that is why we have chosen her as our Star of the Month! Way to go Joann!
