Homegoing for Rosalyn King

With profound love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Rosalyn Olive King, affectionately known to many as “Midgie” or “Roz,” who passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. Born on April 30, 1942, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, Rosalyn was the beloved firstborn of six children to the late Dr. Oliver and Georganna Fields King.

A proud native of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Rosalyn graduated from Hopewell High School before pursuing her passion for music and education at Fisk University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Music Education in 1966. During her time at Fisk, she was honored to sing with the renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers, a prestigious ensemble celebrated for preserving the rich legacy of African American spirituals.

Following graduation, Rosalyn returned home to Aliquippa to share her gift of music with generations of students. Her teaching journey began at Jones School, where she famously pushed her piano from classroom to classroom, bringing music and joy wherever she went. She later continued her career in the Ambridge School District at Baden-Economy School. Over the course of 39 devoted years in education, she became lovingly known to countless students simply as “Ms. King, my Music Teacher”—a title she carried with grace, dedication, and pride.

Rosalyn was a faithful and active member of Greater Emmanuel A.M.E. Zion Church in Aliquippa, where she served wholeheartedly on the Board of Trustees, the Ushers Board, and the Ushers Union, while also faithfully serving as Treasurer for the Ushers. Her commitment to faith, service, and community extended beyond the church through her involvement with the Moderns Club and the Women’s Achievement Club of Aliquippa.

To know Rosalyn was to know warmth, laughter, and love. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—competitive games of Scrabble with her mother, meaningful travels with her mother and daughter, and lively family moments spent playing games, especially LRC (Left, Right, Center). Her vibrant spirit and welcoming heart made every room feel brighter.

Rosalyn possessed a rare gift for connection. She truly never met a stranger, greeting everyone with kindness and affection, often warmly referring to them as “Cousin So-and-So.” Her loving nature made family out of friends and brought comfort and belonging to all who crossed her path.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Dr. Oliver T. King and Georganna F. king; beloved sister, Georgetta Marie (King) Jackson; brother, Dr. Spencer T. King; grandson, Cameron Eugene White; and sister-in-law, Karen King.

Rosalyn leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted daughter, Sheila White; beloved granddaughter, Bria White; brothers, Oliver King (Mildred), Melvin King, and Dr. Wesley King (Lisa); sister-in-law, Catherine King; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, church family, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness, music, and unwavering love.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rosalyn’s life on Friday, May 22, at Greater Emmanuel A.M.E. Zion Church of Aliquippa, 185 6th Avenue, Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, where a public viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, May 23, at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Though her song has quieted, the melody of Rosalyn’s love, faith, laughter, and kindness will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Rochelle R. “Roach, RoRo, Chelle, Mommy, Mommie Dearest” Dixon on September 2, 2025 rested in the arms of her Lord and savior on September 2, 2025
At just 54 years old, Rochelle left behind a legacy of strength, humor, and vision. Known lovingly by many nicknames — Roach, RoRo, Chelle, Mommy, and Mommie Dearest — she lived with a spirit that was bold, funny, and deeply caring. She faced health challenges throughout her life, but never let them define her. With a true Wonder Woman mentality, Rochelle powered through, showing resilience and determination that inspired everyone around her. She motivated others to keep going, no matter what, and continued to show up for her friends, her family, and her community. Rochelle’s journey began August 13, 1971 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, where she graduated with the Class of 1989. A proud member of the Aliquippa High School Marching Band, she played the flute with joy and energy. Her classmates honored her with two superlatives that captured her essence perfectly: “Class Clown” and “Most Likely to Succeed.” Both titles proved true throughout her life. Her love for music ran deep — especially Prince, 80s classics, and that old-school 90s rap that made you roll the windows down and lean out singing along. Music was her medicine, her joy, and her way of connecting with the world. Professionally, Rochelle dedicated herself to service. She began her career in nursing homes in Aliquippa, later moving to Washington, D.C. in 1992, where she worked in behavioral health and elder care. She transitioned into quality improvement for people with disabilities, managing group homes and raising the bar for care. Her leadership grew into guiding quality improvement development in behavioral health companies, before she launched her own business, Qualcon PCS, LLC. Ultimately, she established FH Pathways, Inc., a clinic in Alaska, extending her vision of holistic wellness and empowerment to countless families.
Rochelle was preceded in death by her father, Cornelius Johnson. Paternal Grandparents Charlie
Bernice (Tucker) Johnson, Gaston and Mattie Ann (Strickland) Dixon, Charles Fuller, Willie Fuller, Walter Strickland, and Jeffrey Dixon, Betty A Dixon, Charlene, Charlie Jr., Melvin, James, and Denice Johnson.
Rochelle is survived by her daughter, Milan Williams; her mother, Yvonne Dixon; her siblings, Charla ( Jerry) Dixon- Osei, Anjuan Dixon, and Amanda Smith; and her nephew, Tyease Smith Jr. Uncle Anthony Johnson a host of family, friends, cousin.
She will forever be remembered for her bold Leo energy, her quick wit, her music, her laughter, and her unstoppable drive to love and uplift others.

A joint Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 514 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa, PA 15001.
