When the power goes out, will your backup generator be ready? ⚡

Emergency generators are critical to keeping facilities operational during unexpected outages. But even a well-maintained generator can experience problems if its diesel fuel becomes contaminated or degraded.

That's where laboratory testing can make a difference.

At Clark Testing, we help facilities evaluate:

🔹 Diesel fuel quality and contamination

🔹 Lubricating oil condition and engine wear

🔹 Fuel characteristics that affect generator performance

🔹 Testing information that supports NFPA 110 maintenance programs

From college campuses to industrial facilities, reliable backup power starts with understanding the condition of your fuel and equipment.

Reliable Power Starts with Clean Fuel.

BUILT TO PROTECT. TESTED TO PERFORM.

When heavy equipment operates in demanding environments, the structures protecting the operator are a critical part of equipment safety.

At Clark Testing, our Structural Testing Laboratory performs full-scale Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS), Falling-Object Protective Structure (FOPS), and Tip-Over Protective Structure (TOPS) testing.

Our capabilities include:

• ROPS Testing: Structural performance evaluation under prescribed loading conditions, including ISO 3471.

• FOPS Testing:** Evaluating protection against falling objects, including ISO 3449.

• TOPS Testing:** Structural testing of protective systems designed for tip-over scenarios.

With structural load testing capabilities up to 1 million pounds, Clark supports manufacturers developing and validating safety-critical equipment.

Real equipment. Real testing. Operator protection matters.

Corrosion doesn't wait until equipment reaches the field.

From industrial machinery and transportation equipment to critical infrastructure, exposure to corrosive environments can affect material integrity, protective coatings, and long-term reliability.

That's why salt spray testing plays an important role in product development and environmental qualification.

At Clark Testing, our laboratory uses controlled salt fog exposure to help engineers evaluate how materials, finishes, and protective coatings respond to corrosive conditions.

Our salt spray testing capabilities support:

• ASTM B117: Standard salt spray (fog) testing
• ISO 9227: Salt spray corrosion testing
• MIL-STD-810: Environmental qualification testing

Whether you're evaluating a new protective coating, validating a material selection, or preparing equipment for environmental qualification, our engineering team can help review your testing requirements.

Have a corrosion testing project coming up? Let's put it to the test.

**Built for Real-World Conditions. Tested for Real-World Performance.**

Not every product fits inside a standard environmental test chamber. And not every product operates under ideal conditions.

At Clark Testing, our environmental laboratory helps manufacturers evaluate product durability, reliability, and performance under demanding environmental conditions, from individual components to full-scale assemblies.

Our capabilities include:

**Thermal & Climatic Testing:** Extreme temperatures, thermal cycling, thermal shock, and humidity exposure.

**Altitude & Pressure Simulation:** Evaluating equipment performance under simulated altitude conditions.

**Corrosion & Salt Spray Testing:** Assessing material and component resistance to corrosive environments.

**Dust & Water Ingress Testing:** Evaluating protection against environmental exposure.

**Accelerated Aging & Life-Cycle Testing:** Supporting product validation and qualification programs.

With large walk-in environmental chambers and specialized testing equipment, Clark supports a wide range of testing requirements, including programs developed around MIL-STD-810 and IEC 60068.

**Have an upcoming environmental testing project?**

Our engineering team is ready to review your requirements and discuss a testing approach.

Yes, that's an entire school bus in our testing laboratory!

Some engineering challenges require thinking big. Others require bringing the whole bus into the lab!

Here's a look back at one of Clark Testing's structural testing projects, reminding us that engineering comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes those shapes happen to be bright yellow and have a lot of windows.

From transportation equipment to heavy industrial machinery, structural and fatigue testing help engineers evaluate strength, durability, and performance under demanding conditions.

At Clark Testing, we've never been afraid to tackle a big testing challenge.

Because when it comes to structural integrity, there's no substitute for putting engineering to the test.

Grease probably isn't something most people think about every day, but imagine how much of our modern world would come to a stop without it.

From aircraft and trains to elevators and industrial machinery, this often-overlooked material plays a pretty important role in keeping everything moving.

Paul Heffernan takes a closer look at the science behind grease and why it deserves a little more credit.

Take a few minutes to give it a read!

Silica exposure remains a serious workplace safety concern across a wide range of industries.

From construction and demolition to stone fabrication, foundries, and manufacturing, workers may be exposed to respirable crystalline silica during activities that generate airborne dust.

OSHA's respirable crystalline silica standards establish:

• **50 µg/m³:** Permissible Exposure Limit (8-hour time-weighted average)
• **25 µg/m³:** Action Level (8-hour time-weighted average)

Understanding workplace exposure levels is an important part of protecting employees and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Clark Testing's Industrial Hygiene laboratory provides crystalline silica analysis using established NIOSH testing methods, helping industrial hygienists, safety professionals, and employers evaluate workplace exposure.

It's not always about whether something works. Sometimes it's about whether it works when it matters most.

Think about the valves and actuators used in nuclear power plants. These components may need to perform reliably after years of service and under demanding operating conditions.

That's where equipment qualification comes in.

At Clark Testing, we help evaluate how critical equipment responds to vibration, seismic events, mechanical aging, and other challenging conditions.

Because when reliability matters, testing makes a difference.

What a great week at APTA TRANSform & EXPO 2026 in Chicago!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Clark Testing booth. It was great catching up with familiar faces, meeting new people, and talking about the future of rail and transit.

And a special thank you to Master Gene Garbowsky for bringing the fun with our "Test Your Limits" board-breaking challenge! We loved seeing everyone step up, give it a try, and have a little fun along the way.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make the show a success, including our Clark Testing team who represented us in Chicago!
