I had more to say about secrets! The feeling is the same in my office no matter the secret and the effects of secrecy can be devastating…watch for more!

Psychological research related to secrets has changed both how we define them and what we know about them. Here are some highlights from my conversation with Heather Abraham and Mikey Hood on Talk Pittsburgh last week where we explored the psychology of secrets. More to come and link to full segment on my website and in my story!

How? How is this possible? This sweet boy is now a kindergartner, and he’ll tell anyone who will listen! 😆 He recently told me “I know I’m moving more into Godzilla, but I won’t abandon dinosaurs!” However, he now wants to be an astronaut instead of a paleontologist, so we’ll see! He is curious, creative, and ready to learn! Kindergarten, here he comes!

I just got back from APA 2026 and my thoughts are swirling! I attended so many wonderful sessions on things from adult ADHD, growing up in the digital age, grief, and trauma to AI, neuropsychology, perfectionism, adulthood, midlife and menopause, aging, relational wounds and more. As I reflect, I notice that some things are not as simple as we’d like them to be and others require the simplest (but not necessarily the easiest) interventions. Swipe for my key takeaways!

Have you heard of “dopamine dressing?” I’m usually not a fan of casually throwing around references to things like dopamine, but I’m here for this one! What you wear can affect how you think and feel and the dopamine dressing trend makes that central…it’s about dressing for you, not trends (unless you love them!) or others. It can also incorporate color theory, so need some creativity? Try yellow! Ever notice how much green I wear? Yes, it is a “good color” for me…and it’s also associated with balance (I’m a libra!), harmony, and safety. While there’s some theory here, what’s most important is how YOU feel in what YOU wear. And before anyone thinks I’m telling them to go buy a new wardrobe (I’m not NOT saying that, but…), check your closet! You can do this with what you already have! As always link to full segment in my bio and stories.

Finally got my hands on some hardcopies of the latest City Scene magazine with a feature on yours truly! Thank you so much again to Elias, Ashley Elle and the rest of the team! And if anyone knows how to get their Instagram account back up, give me all your tips so I can pass them on!

If you ask me, relationships are HARD! I am the first to admit that this is where I struggle most to take my own advice! The Washington Post recently interviewed couples who had been together for decades, and they had three pieces of advice: believe the relationship will last, learn how to argue (it’s ok to go to bed angry!), and say thank you for everything. Here’s some of what Mikey Hood Ron Smiley and I had to say about it on Talk Pittsburgh last week! Link to full segment (we had a lot more to say!) in my stories and bio!

It took me a couple Tuesdays to get back to this wonderful conversation with Heather Abraham and Mary Ours about how we can really lean into the idea that “life happens on a Tuesday.” The meaning here is that it’s not the big moments that make a life or that we might long for if we know we have little time left. It’s the simple things…and those are also the things we tend to miss when we get caught up in the busyness of life. To me, the simplest way to slow down and notice is to reconnect with the breath. Extend the exhale. That’s it. Tell me in the comments what works for you! As always, the link to the full segment is in my stories and on my website.

Ever noticed that you feel and maybe even think differently in different clothing? You’re not wrong! What you’re experiencing is called “enclothed cognition!” Studies have shown that our clothing can contribute to increased focused attention, confidence, pro social behavior, and more! While effect sizes are small to moderate, I’d say it’s worth noticing, especially if you’re a clothes horse like me! Link to full segment in my stories and bio.
