Congratulations to Elizabeth Skidmore on co-presenting the new stroke rehabilitation guidelines at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine Annual Meeting in Washington, DC!

Skidmore presented alongside Dr. Richard Zorowitz of MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital. Also pictured is Elena Donoso Brown, Chair of the ACRM Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group and Associate Professor and Department Chair at Duquesne University. The guidelines were developed by more than 40 co-authors, including Pitt OT’s Assistant Professor, Emily Grattan.

While in DC, Skidmore also took place in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation editorial board meeting. We’re proud to see our faculty contributing to the future of stroke rehabilitation in such an impactful and comprehensive way!

The University of Pittsburgh Department of Occupational Therapy is excited to host our final Fieldwork Educator Sessions of the year – Level II Evaluation and Scoring.

This one-hour virtual session (6–7 p.m. ET on Zoom) will highlight educational content from the Pitt OTD program and provide practical strategies to support students in addressing how to implement interventions related to sleep during fieldwork.

The University of Wisconsin–Madison Doctor of Occupational Therapy program honors Caroline Thompson, who served as the program director from 1945 to 1976. Each year, we feature prominent guest speakers and researchers in the field to share their knowledge and perspectives with our students, colleagues and community.

As a current faculty at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Occupational Therapy, Dr. Leland’s expertise includes health services research, implementation science, and community-engaged research methods.

Topic: “Partnering with Communities to Address Health System Challenges and Optimize Patient Outcomes”

Congratulations to Assistant Professor, Dominique Como, on receiving the Research Award at this year's Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association Conference! The award highlighted the impact of her research in helping providers understand patient-provider communication and variance in outcomes.

Dr. Como was presented with the award during the POTA Award Ceremony on Friday September 25 in Elizabethtown, PA.
