POWER http://power-recovery.com More than 23 million Americans suffer from alcoholism and drug addiction, but only 11% receive treatment.

Women are the fastest-growing segment of substance users in the United States, with an estimated 2.7 million women abusing drugs or alcohol. Most women (66-90%) in treatment report histories of trauma, which may include domestic violence, early childhood sexual assault, physical abuse or neglect, loss of a child, or other traumatic experiences. Our staff is trained to understand the impact of trauma on recovery and our care reflects that understanding.

Recovery is about more than avoiding substances—it’s about caring for your whole self.

Make time today to nourish your body, calm your mind, and care for your spirit. Drink water. Get outside. Move your body. Rest when you need it. Do something that brings you joy.

Small acts of self-care support long-term healing.

When volunteer Corinne Branquet goes to the POWER House to cut and style clients’ hair, sometimes Elena Lux goes with her to give the women manicures. Elena is a student at Allderdice High School, where she formed a club – the Allderice Empower Club – to raise money to pay for the women’s beauty supplies. The club recently gave us a check for $538! Do we need to say how excited we are to have young people donating their free time to help women in recovery? Thank you, Elena and the Empower Club!

October is Substance Use & Misuse Prevention Month

Prevention starts with awareness, education, and connection.

Substance use can affect anyone, and early intervention can make a meaningful difference. By recognizing the warning signs, having open conversations, and reducing stigma, we can help more individuals access support before a crisis occurs.

At POWER, we believe every woman deserves compassion, understanding, and access to the care she needs. Whether someone is seeking help for the first time or continuing their recovery journey, hope and healing are possible.
