History of Plain City: In its November 21, 1906 issue, the Plain City Advocate published a list of “facts” about our town, which has the air of a Chamber of Commerce brochure:

1. All the business streets are paved.

2. A complete sewerage system drains practically the entire town.

3. There are four churches, with the membership running into hundreds.

4. No nearby competition – Plain City commands the situation.

5. A first-class public school building, including High School and manual training department.

6. Thousands of dollars have been invested in factories and improvements in the last ten years.

7. The city is well lighted by its own light plant as cheap as like service is furnished in other cities.

8. An abundance of the purest water on earth furnished at reasonable rates by the city’s own water works plant.

9. Plain City has two good hotels, two first-class banks, two weekly newspapers, two telephone systems, three grain elevators and a number of manufacturing industries.
