From Michele Oldenburg:
This past weekend I was able to attend our annual Illinois Optometric Conference with my team and Doctor. I think I have attended about 15 or 16 of these conferences and I still enjoy them. It’s about learning new things, refreshing myself in many things that I’ve learned so long ago, an opportunity to see what new things are coming soon to eye care, and eat lunch with others and share some ideas with a Doctor on billing items, then wake up after I’m home only to receive a lovely ‘thank you email’ from that doctor.
However there is something more I get out of these events- I feel a huge sense of community, I feel very proud of my career path, but even greater than all of that-I get to spend time away from the office with my work family. We laugh, make bets on who’s going to be late, share stories of our lives, and genuinely enjoy our time together.
The conference is an important weekend for me, and I am so grateful that our Doctor makes a way for us to attend it every year.
