🐰🦎🦜 Did you know we see exotic pets, too?

At Precision Pet Urgent Care, we’re proud to regularly provide urgent care for more than just cats and dogs! Dr. Mahoney, our Medical Director, is available several days throughout the week to care for your furry, feathered, and scaly friends.

This week, we have expanded daytime availability for exotic and pocket pet patients!
• Thursday: 10 AM–10 PM
• Friday: 10 AM–10 PM
• Saturday: 11 AM–7 PM

Whether your companion hops, flies, slithers, or scurries, our team is here when they need us. 🐹🐢🐍

Dr. Mahoney is regularly available four days each week, so exotic pet care isn’t limited to these dates! Because her schedule can vary, we always recommend calling ahead before bringing in an exotic or pocket pet to confirm that she is in the hospital.

Patient Spotlight: Beetlejuice 🖤

We couldn’t resist a little Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice moment with this handsome guy — and our Technician Supervisor, Sam, who just happened to fit the theme perfectly!

Beetlejuice came to see us after experiencing vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Thankfully, he was bright and alert on examination with normal vital signs. Our team performed bloodwork and abdominal radiographs, and he received subcutaneous fluids and anti-nausea medication while we treated him for suspected gastroenteritis.

Despite not feeling his best, Beetlejuice was an absolute sweetheart for his visit and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to snap this photo with Sam. We hope this very appropriately named gentleman is feeling much better at home! 🐾

Feel better soon, Beetlejuice! (And maybe keep the sandworms and strange & unusual snacks to a minimum. 😉)

Can we all take a moment to appreciate this adorable little face? Meet Daisy, a 13-week-old Cavapoo who recently visited us after her family noticed blood in her urine, frequent urination, and vomiting.

Because puppies can become sick quickly, our team performed a thorough examination, a point-of-care bladder ultrasound, and a urinalysis. The findings were most consistent with a suspected urinary tract infection, and Daisy also showed signs of mild dehydration.

To help her feel better, Daisy received:
💧 Subcutaneous fluids for hydration
💉 An anti-nausea injection
💊 Antibiotics to treat her suspected urinary tract infection

She went home with medications, plenty of TLC, and instructions to follow up with her primary care veterinarian to ensure the infection completely resolves.

At Precision Pet Urgent Care, we know how scary it can be when a young puppy suddenly isn't feeling well. Our goal is to provide prompt diagnostics, compassionate care, and a treatment plan to help get your newest family member back to feeling like a playful puppy again. ❤️

Feel better soon, sweet Daisy! 🌸

Meet Baby, who decided that our recovery room blankets were the perfect place for a post-procedure nap. 🥹💙

Baby came to us after suddenly developing a painful limp and swelling in her left hind leg after jumping off a bed. To safely evaluate her injury, our team performed sedated orthopedic radiographs, allowing us to obtain high-quality X-rays without causing unnecessary pain or stress.

The good news? No fractures were found. Based on her examination and imaging, Baby is suspected to have a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury—similar to an ACL injury in people. An unexpected finding on her X-rays also revealed old buckshot that had been present for years and was likely unrelated to her current injury.

After her procedure, Baby was carefully monitored as she recovered from her sedation. Once she was awake, comfortable, and stable, she headed home with pain medications, antibiotics for an unrelated paw infection, and strict rest instructions while she begins her recovery.

At Precision Pet Urgent Care, we're committed to making every patient feel as safe and comfortable as possible—from diagnostics to recovery. Sometimes that means lots of cozy blankets, gentle monitoring, and a quiet place to rest. ❤️

We wish Baby a smooth recovery!

💙 Patient Spotlight: Ralph 💙

How handsome is Ralph?! 😻

This fluffy Ragdoll visited Precision Pet Urgent Care after his family noticed he was squinting, pawing at his right eye and developing discharge throughout the day. Eye issues can progress quickly, so they did exactly the right thing by having him evaluated promptly.

After a thorough eye exam including a fluorescein stain to rule out a corneal ulcer (and some cuddles from one of our wonderful vet techs Brandi), Dr. Laura Badeski diagnosed Ralph with suspected conjunctivitis. He went home with antibiotic eye ointment, pain medication and a cone to keep those paws away from his eye while it heals! 💙🩺

👁️ Pet Tip: If you notice your pet squinting, pawing at an eye, excessive tearing, redness, or discharge, don't wait. Eye conditions can worsen rapidly and early treatment can help prevent more serious complications.

We are wishing Ralph a speedy recovery and hopefully, he will be cone-free before he knows it! 💕

🐰 Patient Spotlight: BonBon 💚

Meet BonBon! This handsome bunny recently visited Precision Pet Urgent Care after eating less hay and drinking less water, early warning signs that can indicate gastrointestinal (GI) stasis, a potentially life-threatening condition in rabbits.

Fortunately, BonBon's family recognized the changes early and brought him in before he became critically ill. After a thorough examination, Dr. Laura Mahoney provided supportive care with subcutaneous fluids and anti-nausea medication to help get his digestive system back on track.

💡 Rabbit owners: Even subtle changes like eating less hay, drinking less water, or producing fewer droppings can be signs of an emergency. Rabbits are experts at hiding illness, so early intervention can make all the difference.

Need your exotic pet seen? We welcome rabbits and other exotic pets for urgent care when one of our exotic veterinarians is on shift. You can book online, call ahead or walk in, but we always recommend calling ahead to confirm exotic doctor availability before making the trip.

We're wishing BonBon a speedy recovery and many more happy days of munching hay! 🥕💚

**Holiday Hours Reminder!**

Precision Pet Urgent Care will be closing early on Friday, July 3rd at 9pm and will be closed on Saturday, July 4th so our team can spend the holiday with their family and friends.

We will reopen with our normal business hours on Sunday, July 5th (11:00 AM – 7:00 PM) and will be ready to care for your pets if they need us.

As you celebrate this Independence Day, here are a few pet safety reminders:
🎆 Keep pets indoors during fireworks to help reduce stress and prevent escapes.
🌭 Keep table scraps, bones, corn cobs, skewers, and other cookout foods out of reach.
🍫 Keep chocolate, alcohol, grapes, raisins, onions, and xylitol-containing foods safely away from curious noses.
🏷️ Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with up-to-date ID tags in case they become frightened and run off.

We wish you, your families, and your furry friends a safe, happy, and fun Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

Happy Independence Day from all of us at Precision Pet Urgent Care!

🌽 Meet Eddie! 🐾💙

Six-month-old Eddie came to see us after helping himself to part of a corn cob. While it may seem harmless, corn cobs are one of the most common summertime foreign bodies we see and can become lodged in the stomach or intestines, leading to a life-threatening obstruction.

The good news? Eddie's family acted quickly and brought him in immediately after it happened. Because they didn't wait, we were able to safely induce vomiting and successfully retrieve the corn cob before it could cause a much bigger problem—helping Eddie avoid emergency surgery.

With summer cookouts, picnics, and backyard barbecues right around the corner, it's a great reminder to keep tempting foods and table scraps out of reach. Corn cobs, cooked bones, fruit pits, skewers, and other leftovers can all pose serious risks to curious pets.

Not only was Eddie an excellent patient, but he was also one of the sweetest boys! He happily accepted all the love (and gave plenty of hugs in return), making our team's day just a little brighter. ❤️

Way to go, Eddie—and kudos to your family for acting so quickly! 🐶
