Mental Health Awareness Month reminder: therapists are not immune to being human.

We’re out here using the same self-care tools we talk about in session.. just with a little more chaos, caffeine, and screaming into car playlists.

From hot yoga and plant parenting to therapy of our own and a healthy dose of screamy music… this is your sign that “having it together” is mostly just practice and support.

Be kind to your nervous system. We’re all figuring it out.

Mother’s Day can hold so many different emotions. 🤍

For some, it’s filled with joy and celebration.
For others, it may carry grief, longing, overwhelm, guilt, emptiness, or quiet pain that isn’t always seen.

On Mothers Day, we will hold space for:
🌿 those grieving the loss of a mother or child
🌿 those navigating infertility or waiting to become a parent
🌿 mothers carrying the invisible weight of postpartum mental health struggles
🌿 those healing from trauma, loss, or complicated relationships
🌿 anyone finding this day difficult for reasons others may not understand

Whatever this day brings up for you — your feelings are valid.
You do not have to force gratitude, happiness, or perfection to deserve care and support.

Be gentle with yourself.
Rest when you need to.
Reach out if you need support.
You are not alone in this. 🤍

Mental Health Awareness Month Spotlight 💚

We’re recognizing Chrissy Teigen for openly sharing her experience with postpartum depression, grief, anxiety, and the emotional changes that can come with motherhood.

By speaking honestly about the parts of motherhood that many women feel pressured to hide, she helped normalize conversations around maternal mental health and reminded women they are not alone in what they’re feeling.

As a women’s mental health practice, we know motherhood can bring love and joy while also bringing overwhelm, identity shifts, exhaustion, and emotional pain.

We believe women deserve support through all parts of the motherhood journey- not just the picture-perfect moments.💕

Mental Health Awareness Month Spotlight 💚

Today we’re recognizing Lady Gaga, AKA MOTHER MONSTER.💚
Lady Gaga has used her global platform not just for music, but for meaningful, vulnerable conversations about mental health- helping to normalize seeking support and breaking long-standing stigma.

She has openly shared her lived experience with PTSD, Depression and Anxiety. She has also spoken about the impact trauma can have on both the mind and body - bringing awareness to how complex and interconnected healing can be.

She co-founded the Born This Way Foundation, which focuses on youth mental health, kindness, and building supportive communities.

💬“I’m not ashamed of my story anymore.”
💬“If you’re suffering from a mental illness, you are not alone.”

Her message is clear: healing is possible, support is powerful, and your voice matters.

We don’t always get to control life’s pace, but we can choose a place to come back to—a space of safety, stability, and calm.
These pauses are not optional. They aren’t something we earn after burnout. They’re essential- something our nervous system needs along the way.

ARW is shining a spotlight on women in media who show immense bravery by speaking openly about mental health. 💙

of has shared that her album Tsunami Sea reflects her ongoing battle with depression. In interviews, she’s explained that putting emotions into words doesn’t always come easily—so she channels them through music instead.

On the Tsunami Sea tour, Courtney shares a surprise poem not featured on the album. It’s both beautiful and heartbreaking, using the imagery of the ocean to further explore these emotions—grief, isolation, and the feeling of never quite escaping yourself.

Her vulnerability is a powerful reminder that art can be a lifeline—and that speaking about mental health, in any form, matters.

"All my life
I always dreamed of living this island
The feeling is ever present
Under the surface
Close enough to present a shape
But too far to feel like a reflection
The feeling is a part of me
That grows so small and desperate
Not strong enough to withstand each wave of change
Booming towards my eternal isolation
I dreamed that I would leave this weak person behind
In a tide pool of her tears
But here she stands with me
Sinking deeper into the sand
As the current flows backwards
Before each wave comes
I destroy my home
Over and over
And I realize I never left this island
And this Island never left me
I realize I could never be the person that you want me to be
And so I look up from below
The tears that I sow
Are the waves that I reap
And so I turn my tears into a tsunami sea
And all that ever was will ever be
And I pray that you will stay here down with me
And just
Breathe"

As the holidays arrive, we want to pause and say thank you. Thank you for trusting us, for showing up, and for allowing AsterRoot Wellness to be part of your journey.

We see how much work goes into this season—the planning, the holding it all together, the caring for everyone else. We hope you’re able to find moments of rest, self-care, and presence amid it all. You deserve to slow down too.

Wishing you gentle moments, deep breaths, and a holiday season that feels supportive and nourishing.

✨Shoutout to all the moms navigating what we call “Mom Christmas”✨

For many moms, Christmas isn’t restful or magical — it’s relentless.
The planning, the shopping, the traditions, the meals, the memories… all while being expected to smile, stay grateful, and keep everything running smoothly.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, touched-out, exhausted, or quietly resentful — you’re not failing. You’re responding to a lot of invisible labor and emotional pressure.

You’re allowed to feel joy and stress at the same time.
You’re allowed to need help.
You’re allowed to feel this season deeply.

✨ If this resonates, take a breath and give yourself permission to do one thing less today — and know you don’t have to carry this alone.

If the world feels heavy… it’s because it is.
And yet—here you are. Still rising. Still holding. Still loving.

This is for the parents, the caregivers, the ones carrying quiet fear and loud responsibility at the same time.
You are not imagining the weight.
And you are not invisible in your strength. 🤍

Save this for the days it feels like too much.
Share it with someone who is carrying, too.
