Your hips should lead the move. šŸ’ŖšŸ¾

A hip hinge helps you train your glutes and hamstrings with control. Before adding weight, get these basics down:

āœ… Push your hips back.
āœ… Keep your spine and neck aligned.
āœ… Keep a slight bend in your knees.

Move slowly and practice first. More weight won’t fix poor form.

At 5F Fitness, you get coaching and workouts built for YOUR level—even in a semi-private session.

Did you know ā€œlazy glutesā€ could be the real reason behind your knee and back pain? šŸ‘‡..

When your glutes don’t activate properly, your lumbar spine and knees are forced to overcompensate. The fix isn’t just lifting heavier—it’s lifting with proper activation and hip mechanics:

1ļøāƒ£ Glute Medius Stability – Stabilizes the hips so knees track outward, not inward.
2ļøāƒ£ Box / Goblet Squats – Teaches you to sit deep into the hips rather than loading the knees.
3ļøāƒ£ Hips-First Deadlifts & RDLs – Strengthens the posterior chain to take pressure completely off the lower back.

šŸ’¬ Save this for your next lower body session! Which of these is your go-to move?

Same weight on the scale. Completely different body. šŸ‘€

That’s ā€œskinny fatā€: a normal weight, but too little muscle and too much body fat. It’s why so many women over 35 are dieting harder and doing more cardio, and still feel soft, tired and stuck.

After your 30s, you lose muscle unless you train to keep it, and you lose it faster around menopause. The answer isn’t eating less. It’s getting stronger:
āœ… Lift weights 2–3Ɨ a week
āœ… Eat protein at every meal
āœ… Stop crash dieting

That’s exactly what we do in my small-group strength sessions in Little Elm, coached for women 35+, near Frisco.

šŸ’¬ DM me ā€œSTRONGā€ to get started.

Your butt might be big. But is it actually doing anything? šŸ‘

For a lot of women over 35, the glutes are basically on vacation, and the rest of the body has been covering their shifts for years: your knees, your low back, your hips.

That’s why the stairs feel harder, the groceries make your back ache, and putting on pants has turned into a balance test.

Swipe through and do the quick checks. Be honest šŸ‘€

Checked 2 or more? DM me ā€œGLUTESā€ and I’ll show you where to start.

At 55, she came to me with two simple, honest goals: stop her lower back and hips from throbbing after sitting all day, and feel confident in her clothes again.
Between demanding careers, family responsibilities, and busy schedules, so many women over 35 quietly accept daily aches as the ā€œnew normalā€:
• That dull, burning ache in the lower back after a 45-minute commute.
• Fidgeting in chair after chair just to get through afternoon meetings.
• Feeling stiff and cautious the second your feet hit the floor in the morning.
• Wondering if your body is just ā€œpast its prime.ā€
Here is what 3 months of dedicated, progressive core training proved:
Age is not an expiration date on feeling incredible in your body.
Yes, she dropped serious inches off her waistline (the visible change speaks for itself). But the real transformation is in her day-to-day life:
✨ Effortless, tall posture without feeling fatigued.
✨ Sitting through a full workday without constant pain breaks.
✨ Moving with ease, strength, and zero hesitation.
When you train your deep core to actually stabilize your pelvis and support your spine, your hips and lower back can finally stop doing emergency overtime work.
You don’t have to live with nagging pain just because you turned 35, 45, or 55.
Send me a DM with the word CORE (or drop it in the comments below), and let’s talk about building a body that feels strong, capable, and pain-free every single day.

You don’t always need 30–60 minutes of boring stationary cardio to improve your conditioning.

A focused 10–15-minute conditioning finisher can deliver more work in less time by challenging your heart, lungs, coordination, power, and muscular endurance—all while keeping the workout engaging.

Today’s finisher:

5 rounds:

šŸ”„ Band Squat Thruster — 45 seconds
šŸ”„ Box Lateral Shuffle + Cone Tap — 45 seconds
šŸ”„ Row Erg — 30 seconds
šŸ”„ Rest — 30 seconds

That’s only 12½ minutes, but every minute has a purpose.

Steady-state cardio still has value, but if time is limited, short and intense finishers are an efficient way to build conditioning without spending another hour staring at a wall on the treadmill.

Train with intention—not just duration.

The barbell squat may be the goal—but it shouldn’t always be the starting point.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is loading a barbell before they’ve developed the mobility, stability, strength, and control needed to squat well. Progressing too quickly can reinforce poor movement patterns, limit your results, and increase unnecessary stress on your knees, hips, and lower back.

A smarter squat progression looks like this:

1. High Box Squat
2. Standard Box Squat
3. Low Box Squat
4. TRX-Assisted Squat
5. Goblet Squat
6. Barbell Squat

Each level has a purpose. Box squats help you control your depth and develop lower-body strength. The TRX-assisted squat allows you to practice deeper range of motion with support. The goblet squat introduces external resistance while helping you maintain good positioning. Once those foundations are solid, you’ll be better prepared to squat with a barbell.

Starting at the right level can help you:

• Improve squat depth and mobility
• Strengthen your legs and core
• Develop better balance and body control
• Build confidence under resistance
• Reduce your risk of injury

When should you progress? Once you can complete 30 controlled, pain-free reps with consistent depth and good form, you’re ready to begin working toward the next level.

Regressions aren’t a punishment—and they don’t mean you’re weak. They give you the foundation needed to progress without allowing your ego to write checks your body can’t cash.

Need help finding your correct starting point? Book a consultation, and let’s assess your movement and build a training plan around your current ability.

Save this progression for your next lower-body workout.

The wall hip hinge may look simple, but it teaches one of the most important movement patterns for building your lower body.

It helps you properly load your glutes, hamstrings, and inner thighs instead of allowing your lower back or knees to take over. If you can’t hinge correctly, you may struggle to fully engage your glutes—and that can limit their strength and development.

It can also help reduce lower back pain by teaching you to move through your hips while keeping your spine in a neutral position. This helps take unnecessary stress off your lower back and encourages stronger, more efficient movement. If you have persistent or severe pain, consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Stand about half a foot (6 inches) in front of a wall.
2. Keep your knees slightly bent and your core braced.
3. Push your hips backward until your glutes lightly touch the wall.
4. Keep your back neutral and your feet firmly planted.
5. Drive through your feet and squeeze your glutes as you stand.

Once you can control the movement, gradually work your way up to one foot away from the wall. When you can reach the wall without squatting or rounding your back, add a dumbbell or kettlebell.

Master the movement first. Then add the weight. Your glutes can’t properly develop if you never learn how to load them.

Ready to build stronger, more powerful glutes? Save this, practice the wall hip hinge today, and comment ā€œHINGEā€ when you’ve mastered it.
