Colorectal cancer doesn’t affect everyone equally.

Black Americans are:
▪️ 15% more likely to develop colon cancer
▪️ 35% more likely to die from it

That’s why awareness and screening matter so much in our communities.

Screening saves lives. Conversations save lives. Sharing this post could save someone you love.

Let’s break the taboo and talk about gut health this month. 💙

🔍 Not all colonoscopies are the same. And not all doctors are either.

When it comes to colon cancer screening, quality matters.
Before booking with the first “colonoscopy near me” result, here’s what you should look for:

📊 Adenoma Detection Rate (ADR)
Higher rates mean more precancerous polyps are detected and removed, which lowers your cancer risk. The average ADR in the U.S. is 40%.

⏱️ Withdrawal Time
A careful, thorough exam takes time. Rushed procedures can miss important findings. The American College of Gastroenterology recommends a minimum withdrawal time of 6 minutes for colonoscopy.

🔢 Procedure Volume
Doctors who perform more colonoscopies tend to have better outcomes and detection rates.

🏥 Procedure Location
Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) are often a better choice than hospitals —
✔️ Lower cost
✔️ Streamlined, efficient visits
✔️ Lower infection risk
✔️ Easy parking and access
Make sure to ask where the doctor performs colonoscopies: ASCs or hospitals.

🎓 Training
Look for Medical School → Internal Medicine Residency → Gastroenterology Fellowship.

⭐ Online Reviews
Patient comments often reflect communication, comfort, and staff support.

🏅 Board Certification
Shows advanced training and ongoing standards of care.

📄 State Medical License
Public verification of credentials and good standing.

Your colonoscopy isn’t just a test — it’s prevention.

If you’re in Plano or DFW, choose a GI specialist who focuses on quality and safety every single day. 💙

Did you know a colonoscopy can PREVENT cancer?

Not just detect it. Prevent it.

During a colonoscopy, we:
✔️ Look for problems
✔️ Remove polyps
✔️ Prevent cancer before it starts

Colonoscopy is the only screening that can both detect and remove polyps. That’s why it’s considered the gold standard for Colon Cancer screening.

Most people should start at age 45, earlier for those considered high-risk (a family history, IBD, or specific GI symptoms).

It’s quick. It’s safe. And it could save your life.

Let’s not put this one off. Get screened! 💙

If you’re 45+ or have a family history, let’s get you scheduled.

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month 💙

This March, please help spread awareness that Colon Cancer is a preventable cancer.

Here’s why screening matters:
▪️ 150,000 Americans are diagnosed each year
▪️ Over 50,000 deaths annually
▪️ BUT more than 1.5 million survivors in the U.S.

Why? Because early detection saves lives.

Colorectal cancer is one of the few cancers we can actually prevent with screening.

If you’re 45+ here in Plano or the DFW area, it’s time to schedule your colonoscopy.

📞 Contact our Plano office today — your future self will thank you.

🌟 March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month 🌟

Did you know that colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it still claims thousands of lives every year? This month, we are shining a light on the importance of early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and supporting those battling this disease. 💙

Here’s how you can get involved:
✅ Get Screened - Regular screenings can save lives. If you're 45+, it’s time to talk to your doctor.
✅ Know the Signs - Be aware of symptoms like changes in bowel habits, persistent stomach discomfort, or unexplained weight loss.
✅ Spread the Word - Share this post and raise awareness in your community.
✅ Support Fighters & Survivors - Offer your encouragement to those affected by colon cancer.
✅ National Dress in Blue Day – The national holiday was started to raise awareness about the causes of colon cancer and how to prevent it. This year, Dress in Blue Day is on Friday, March 7.
✅ DFW Event – Get Your Rear in Gear – Fort Worth 5k Run/Walk: Saturday, March 08, 2025 | Trinity Park.

Let’s take action together. Early detection is key, and every bit of awareness helps! 💪
