A firework went off next to his leg on July 4th. The ER found nothing. Two days later, emergency surgery pulled a two-inch piece of it out from eight inches deep in his shin. He was a day away from losing the leg.

Two surgeries, a wound vac, cellulitis, and a skin graft that fell off after a week. Then he came to us.

Daily dressing changes, a topical antimicrobial with a secondary dressing, and gentle compression. In a few weeks the wound went from 11 cm to 7 cm long and from 5.5 cm to 3.8 cm wide, and the burning eased.
