Hepatitis C is now curable. Direct-acting antivirals cure more than 95% of patients in as little as 8 weeks, yet only about 1 in 3 people with HCV in the U.S. have received treatment.

For many in the bleeding disorders community, HCV is not a distant public health concern. It is part of a history that runs deep. At LUX Infusion, we serve this community as their long-term infusion care partner, and we believe this awareness day matters.

// July is Juvenile Arthritis Awareness Month //

Juvenile arthritis affects nearly 300,000 children in the U.S. For those with systemic or polyarticular JIA, biologic infusion therapies are often a central part of long-term disease management.

At LUX Infusion, we believe a diagnosis in childhood should not limit a life. Our clinician-led approach is built around the whole patient, and we are proud to support the pediatric rheumatology community in making sure young patients get the access and care they deserve.

This month, we stand with the JA community and the providers working every day to shorten diagnostic timelines and improve outcomes for kids.

A small moment. A major impact.

When a patient’s prescribed therapy was denied, Holly Petrino, NP-C, AIC Regional Clinical Director at LUX Infusion, knew the story was not over.

Working alongside the ordering provider and reimbursement team, Holly helped support the appeal process and kept the patient’s needs at the center of every step.

The result: the appeal was approved.

For the patient, that approval meant more than access to medication. It meant relief. It meant being heard. It meant one less barrier standing between them and the care their provider recommended.

Navigating the 2026 ASPEN Clinical Guideline Update

The new ASPEN Clinical Guidelines for Head and Neck Cancer (HNC) have dropped, with several key updates:

• Establish a minimum of 30 kcal/kg and 1.2–1.5g protein/kg daily during chemoradiation to aggressively combat muscle wasting.

• Offers support for oral/enteral glutamine to reduce mucositis severity, while explicitly advising against parenteral (IV) glutamine.

• Gastrostomy (PEG/RIG) is now the suggested standard when nutritional support is anticipated to exceed 4-6 weeks.

• Includes a mandate to maintain some oral intake—when safe— even after transitioning to EN to protect long-term swallowing.

🧠 Migraine Awareness Month 🧠

This Migraine & Headache Awareness Month, we’re standing witness to an ongoing and profound shift in clinical care.

For decades, prevention relied on repurposed medications like antihypertensives and antidepressants. CGRP therapies marked the first wave of engineered migraine-specific prevention, reducing overuse of acute therapies and opening the door to more targeted stability.

Now, we are seeing the rise of non-CGRP approaches, such as those targeting PACAP pathways, which may offer a safety net for those that CGRP has failed. For those affected by migraines, we’re working to make sure emerging treatments are accessible for all.
