Don’t worry! These cupping marks are actually telling you something… 👀🌀
This patient was experiencing intense back pain due to hours of bending over from gardening 😮💨 There was quite a bit of stagnation going on in her back that needed some release!
In Chinese Medicine, the color and intensity of your cupping marks can offer insight into areas of Qi and Blood stagnation and the overall state of circulation in the tissues.
🩷 Light pink: Mild stagnation with good circulation and a healthy movement of Qi and Blood.
❤️ Bright red: More acute Qi and Blood stagnation, often seen with recent tension, inflammation, or excess heat.
💜 Deep red/purple: May indicate deeper or more chronic stagnation—areas where Qi and Blood have been “stuck” for longer periods of time.
🤎 Very dark marks: Often associated with more pronounced stagnation and long-standing patterns of tension or poor circulation.
The darker the mark doesn’t necessarily mean “worse”—everyone’s body responds differently, and mark color can also vary based on skin tone, suction intensity, and individual circulation.
✨ Who may benefit from cupping?
Those experiencing muscle tension, chronic tightness, soreness, limited mobility, stagnant circulation, or stress-related patterns of Qi stagnation. 🌀
