As therapists, it’s important that we make space for our clients’ pain, and it’s equally important that we help them discover their strengths.
One of the core ideas in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is that the language needed to describe a problem is different from the language needed to create a solution.
When we begin asking questions about hope, strengths, exceptions, and preferred futures, we invite new possibilities into the conversation.
Sometimes healing doesn’t have to begin by talking more about the problem, it can begin by helping someone imagine what’s possible beyond it.
