We always start with conservative care. Medications, rinses, and sprays.
But when those fail, minimally invasive procedures like balloon sinuplasty can help open blocked sinus pathways and restore drainage.
These procedures are quick, targeted, and designed to fix the problem at its source when other options are no longer working.

Cleveland Clinic says essential oils are not proven safe or effective for colds or sore throats, and they can irritate the airway or trigger reactions in some people. If your nose, throat, or lungs are already annoyed, adding scented drama may not be the plot twist you need.

I asked my team what THEY changed after working here and reading Breathe Easy, and the answers were almost identical:

- Air purifier (especially bedrooms)
- Change and wash sheets regularly
- Encase pillows and mattresses with allergen covers

Want a simple “where to start” checklist for your home setup? Comment “BREATHE” and I’ll tell you the first 3 things I’d prioritize.

GMA featured mouth tape and nose strips as part of a nighttime routine, which tells us nasal breathing has officially entered the beauty aisle. Cute? Sure. But if your nose is blocked, taping your mouth is not a substitute for figuring out why your nose cannot do its job.

Afrin-style sprays can feel like magic when you are congested, but the article highlights why using them longer than directed can lead to rebound congestion. Translation: your nose gets clingy, dramatic, and suddenly very high-maintenance. If you need spray every night, it may be time to figure out what is actually blocking your breathing.

There is a big difference between a normal winter cold and a pattern where every sniffle becomes weeks of pressure, pain, and antibiotics. If that happens to you every holiday season, it is not bad luck. It can be a sign of chronic inflammation, blocked sinus drainage pathways, structural issues in the nose, or uncontrolled allergies underneath.

You do not have to keep telling yourself, “This is just how my winters go.” An ENT can look at the full picture of your nose and sinuses and help break that cycle with the right testing, medications, and in some cases minimally invasive procedures. If you are already on your second or third “holiday sinus infection” this year, save this and book a visit so we can figure out why your sinuses keep crashing every time the temperatures drop.

The Washington Post covered couples sleeping apart because snoring is wrecking their rest, including people trying nose strips, mouth tape, nasal dilators, and sleeping upright first. Separate bedrooms may help peace in the house, but a real airway evaluation might help explain the noise in the first place.
