This is what 50 years of care looks like. ❤️
For nearly half of our 100-year history, one nurse has quietly been showing up – day after day – for her patients, her coworkers and this community.
Meet Sue Tender, RN.
She started here in 1977. Next year marks 50 years. And through every change in health care, one thing never changed – her heart for people.
“It gives me purpose. This is more like home than my home. It’s my second home,” Tender says.
She has seen it all – no computers, handwritten charts, glass equipment cleaned by hand… to today’s fast-moving, high-tech care. But ask her what matters most, and her answer is simple:
“Getting to know my patients, making them feel comfortable, that’s what they need.”
That’s the legacy of nursing at CVPH, people taking care of people. Tender says her coworkers feel like family:
“We’re just like brothers and sisters. We get our work done, but we always have a good time.”
And her advice after decades at the bedside?
“Take care of what’s in front of you. One patient at a time.”
As we celebrate 100 years of CVPH, Tender’s story reminds us what makes this hospital special – moments, memories and people who never stop caring.
