I am first and foremost an aromatherapist. My practice is firmly rooted in research and science, but I also bel

ieve that hands on experience play a large role in an aromatherapists toolbox. I have been working with essential oils for over a decade, and have completed over 500 hours of formal training. Natural living and holistic wellness have been a part of my life for a very long time. Shortly after deciding to go back to school for complementary medicine, as a new mom with two very young boys I found myself absolutely exhausted. My to-do list was always growing by the minute and although I always got a lot done, I felt I never did anything particularly well. Burning the candle at both ends caught up with me in a big way when I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue, and later with adrenal exhaustion. Through this shocking diagnosis, I discovered not only that I needed to take better care of myself, I needed to let go of what was no longer working in my life; attitudes and behaviors, self-talk, and I even walked away from a few key relationships in my life. I needed to grow in ways I never thought I could. I had to challenge my old ways of thinking. I am now a single mom and am thriving more than I have in years. Come and take this spiritual journey with me. I will challenge your thought processes to help you to love and take care of yourself first each and every day so that you have enough to not only care for your children the best that you can but to fully embrace life! I specialize in aromatherapy for kids so rest assured, I am very educated and anything that I share with you is based on research, science, and a whole lot of love. Aromatherapy can be of great benefit to your whole family! So what is my educational background? I earned my associate's degree in Complementary and Alternative Medicine at the American College of Healthcare Sciences in Portland, Oregon. In addition to my aromatherapy training, I am a Holistic Health Practitioner and Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant with an additional 1,000 hours of training. Within these hours I have earned over 7 certificates, and have experience in formulating, natural product manufacturing, as well as aromatic medicine. I am happy that you have found my page. The future is bright and we are in this together! Aromatic Blessings, Leslie

Sometimes, a version of this is needed....and works.

I say, "nope, not now"

Do you have a way to catch yourself in these moments?

One of the most common things I hear at markets is:

“Oh, I already take magnesium.”

And honestly? So do I.

I take magnesium glycinate every single day.

But there is still a massive difference between supporting your body internally… and rubbing magnesium directly into the areas that are carrying stress, tension, tightness, and soreness.

I would not survive long workdays, neck tension, aching shoulders, stress, and muscle fatigue without my magnesium lotion.

Both have a place.
They just work differently.

And once you feel the difference topically… you understand.

The modern wellness industry taught women to survive the damage instead of questioning the system causing it.

We were handed caffeine for exhaustion.
Wine for nervous system overload.
Pills for disconnection.
Supplements for depletion.
Protein bars made of chemicals.
“Self-care” sold in plastic packaging while women are running on cortisol and fumes.

And before anyone gets defensive, yes, there is a place for medicine. There is a place for support. There is a place for supplementation.

But we should still be asking harder questions.

Why are so many women exhausted before 10 AM?
Why is anxiety normalized?
Why are hormone issues exploding?
Why does the food industry profit from ultra-processed convenience while the pharmaceutical industry profits from the fallout?

A dysregulated society is an incredibly profitable society.

The answer was never supposed to be “cope harder.”
It was supposed to be:
What is creating the dysfunction in the first place?

Food.
Stress.
Environmental overload.
Nervous system exhaustion.
Disconnection from rhythm, rest, sunlight, movement, and real nourishment.

That conversation makes people uncomfortable.
Good. It should.

Happy Saturday, friends ☀️

I’ll be back at the Kenosha HarborMarket today with all the good things:
magnesium lotion, spray, and deodorant, fresh botanical products, nervous system support favorites, my books, and lots of conversation about slowing down and caring for ourselves a little better.

If you’ve never been to HarborMarket, it’s honestly one of my favorite parts of summer. Fresh air right on the lake, local food, handmade goods, coffee in hand, music playing, and hundreds of small businesses pouring their heart into what they create.

Come walk the market.
Support local.
Ask questions.
Smell the herbs.
Try the samples.
And maybe allow yourself one slow morning this weekend instead of rushing through another one.

I used to think that being the “easy one” made me a good person. It actually made me someone people didn’t have to respect.

I thought keeping things smooth meant I was doing something right.

Don’t make waves.
It’s just who they are.
They are just having a bad day.
I can look the other way.
I can see the good in them.
It is not worth bringing it up
It will just drain my energy.

My voice got quieter.
I stayed silent in moments that I didn’t agree.

Moments I was disrespected.
Moments where I could have spoken my truth.
Moments that became more frequent and I began to lose pieces of myself a little at a time.

That kind of pattern doesn’t just live in your life. It lives in your nervous system.

Recognizing this pattern led to a huge shift in my life.

Did it mean everyone stayed when I shifted?
No.

Did it bring me more peace in the end?
Absolutely!!!

But it asked me to be someone I had never been before.

I don’t think women are actually asking for that much.

I think most women want to wake up without immediately feeling pressure sitting on their chest.

To drink their coffee slowly once in a while.
To stop feeling guilty for resting.
To not feel emotionally responsible for everyone in the room.
To exist without constantly proving their value through productivity.

But somewhere along the way, exhaustion became normalized.

Women started calling survival “just being busy.”

And now we have entire generations of women who don’t know what calm feels like unless they’re alone in a Target parking lot.

That’s not balance.
That’s adaptation.

And honestly?

I think a lot of women would completely fall apart if they stopped moving long enough to hear what their body has been trying to say.

What if the life you’ve built only works because you keep abandoning yourself to maintain it?

I talk about things that resonate with you because I am you.

And lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how disconnected so many women have become from their own rhythm.

Not productivity rhythm.

Not calendar rhythm.

Not “how much can I fit into one day” rhythm.

I mean the softer rhythm.

The feminine rhythm.

The one that knows when to push forward and when to rest.

The one that craves slowness without guilt.
The one who wants to cook nourishing food with intention instead of inhaling something quickly between obligations.
The one who wants to sit outside and hear the wind, the birds, the sound and feel of your feet touching the earth without immediately thinking about the next thing that needs to be done.

So many women are living in a constant state of urgency and don’t even realize it anymore, because survival mode has become their personality.

And eventually, even wellness becomes another pressure system.

Clean eating becomes perfectionism.

Missing a supplement feels like failure.

Rest feels unproductive.

Your body asks for softness, but your mind responds with control.

And over time, we stop listening to ourselves completely.

We live from the neck up.
Disconnected from intuition.
Disconnected from nature.
Disconnected from stillness.
Disconnected from our own nervous system.

Then we wonder why we feel numb.
Anxious.
Emotionally flat.
Exhausted even when we’re technically “doing everything right.”

I don’t think women were designed to live this disconnected from rhythm.

I think modern life rewards over-functioning while quietly starving the feminine.

And before someone misunderstands me, I’m not talking about weakness.

I’m talking about receptivity.
Intuition.
Presence.
Softness.
Creativity.
Safety.
The ability to actually feel your life while you’re living it.

There are moments lately where I catch myself interrupting these patterns in tiny ways.

Putting my phone down and listening to the birds instead of scrolling.

Making food slower.

Choosing rest without earning it first.

Letting my body exhale before demanding more from it.

And the more I pay attention, the more I realize something important:

The body is always communicating.

Through tension.
Through cravings.
Through exhaustion.
Through numbness.
Through the quiet feeling that something is off even when life looks “fine” on paper.

I’ve been exploring this idea deeply lately.
The idea that plants, scent, ritual, rhythm, and nervous system patterns may all be speaking the same language.

Maybe healing is not forcing.

Maybe it begins with learning how to listen again.

I think a lot of women are craving that right now, whether they realize it or not.

Recognizing patterns that you.have and why they are there is the first step to teach safety to your nervous system. A game changer.

They were in my local store today, so I bought a few and plan to go get more before they're gone!

Purple sweet potatoes earn their crown for a few standout reasons, and it is not hype.

They are rich in anthocyanins, the same antioxidant compounds found in blueberries and blackberries. These pigments give them their deep purple color and are studied for their role in supporting cellular resilience and reducing oxidative stress from everyday life.

Unlike many colorful foods, purple sweet potatoes are also:

Naturally high in fiber, which supports digestion and steadier blood sugar response

A source of complex carbohydrates that provide sustained energy rather than quick spikes.

Rich in polyphenols that remain relatively stable even after cooking.

They are also lower on the glycemic index than many orange sweet potato varieties, especially when cooled after cooking, which makes them a favorite in nervous system and metabolic supportive nutrition.

In short, purple sweet potatoes are not just colorful. They deliver nutrient density, antioxidant power, and grounding nourishment in one humble food.

There are two camps when it comes to liver health.

One says the liver is our detox organ and does not need support. No herbs. No cleansing. No attention. Just let it do its job.

The other camp recognizes that our livers are now dealing with ultra processed foods, medications, hormone disruptors, chronic stress, alcohol, and environmental chemicals on a daily basis.
Pretending this is the same world our bodies evolved in feels unrealistic.

I fall squarely in the second camp.

Yes, the liver detoxes.

That does not mean it should be left unsupported in today’s environment.

The problem is not that detox exists.
The problem is extreme detox culture that ignores food, lifestyle, and gentle daily support.

I wrote a short piece breaking down:
• signs your liver may be overworked
• everyday habits that quietly add burden
• what actually supports liver health without harsh cleanses

If this topic has ever confused you or frustrated you, you might find it grounding.

Does your liver really need support? Learn the signs of an overworked liver, what actually helps, and why gentle daily care matters in today’s world.
